A new ruling has just been made by the postoflicc department - ment rcquiring box rents to be col1ccted in the ten days preceding - ing t'hc ' beginning of each quarter - ter , instead of in the first fifteen days of the quarter , as heretofore. 'l'he postmaster is required to vacate such boxes I as arc IIOt paid for on the first day of the new quarter. Those Brokcu Bow renters of postoflice boxeg who have been 1U the habit of paying most any old time duriug' the ( luarter for which box rent is due will now have to step up and square up on or before the 1st day of each quarter or in goes the "vacant" sign and the box is locked-on the inside. ' ' Chronicle-Citizen 'l'hc Ansley - says nn ugly wolf that has been causing considerable trouble to fanners and stock raisers living northeast of Ansley , was 'captur- ed and killed by John Carothers' hounds the first of Inst week. It is the largc ! ' > t of the wolf specie thnt has been caught in this part of the county in man } ' years , measuring 5 feet nnd 3 inches from tip to tip , the hend measuring - ing 12 mches. It has been seel1 by farmers numerous times and was known bv the dark hair 011 its ba' k. ne or the hounds was horribly mutilated by the wolf in' the tight. South Omaha Market. Under date of D.ecember 3rd , Clay , Robinson & Co. issued the following . : The offering of fed-steer8 is still very light. Very few cattle seem to be finished for market , and the principal offering of this class is short-fed nnd only warmed up steers.
