The trade rulcd qui te strong all last weck , and anything - thing with any degree of 1lesh sold readily and 10 and 15 cents higher at the close. There is beginning to cOlne a small num. bcr of shor.tfed kinds. 'l'hese arc rathcr slow sale at prescnt , for as a rule they are poor killers so far as the prccent is concerncd , and packers prefer the good western grass steers. The top last weck was $6.25 , with good Idnds quota lc at $5.50 and $ ( , .00 ; fair to good $5.00 and $5.50 ; short.feds $4.75 and below. 'l'he cow market was strong and active as a rule , and closing pric.es showed an advance of 10 and 15 cents. Good to choice I grass cows and heifers are quotable - i able at $3.25 and $3.CI5 ; fair to' ' good $2.60 and $3.15 ; canners and cutters $1.75 and $2.50. Heavy fl.eshy feeders continues strong and active throughout the week , although no material advance - vance was noticeable. Good to choice heavy fleshy feeders suitable - able for short.fed are selling any where from $4.25 up as high as $5.20 , fair to good $4.00 and $4.25 ; good to choice tigh t and medium weights $3.65 and $4.00 ; fair to good $3.40 and $3.65. The hog market ruled steady to a little stronger each day last week , and with a moderate offer. ing today the trade is starting out strong.
