When about three years old he moved with his parents to Rock Island , Ill. , living there about 32 years. March 24 , 1867 , he was married to Miss Ann Armstrong - strong of Zuma. ' 1'0 this union was born 8 children ; 6 girls and 2 boys , two of whom preceede him to. the glory land. In 1879 he moved to Custer county where : he homesteaded near Westerville. Lived there until 4 years ago when he was adinittad to the Soldiers Home where he died , He leaves a wife. 3 sisters , 6 chit- cIren and 9 grandchildren to mourn his death. The sisters , Mrs. Stewart of Nebraska , Mrs. Ed. McMurphy and Mrs. W. D. Mumma of Rock Island , 111. 'fhe children , Mrs. A. Lan- phear , Broken Bow , 1\Teb. , P. II. Ioody and Mrs. Pearsall , Wester- ville , Neb. , Mrs. C. Hurlbutt , Birchard , Neb , Mrs. Nettie Donahoo and Miss Eli1.beth Moody , Rock Island , Ill. When about 19 years of age he was converted at Zuma , Ill. , and united with the M.
