At an adjourned meeting of the city council l\Iond y night , petitions from the first , second and third wards werc presenteel , requesting an election be called vote bonds I for the purpose of putting- an electric light sys- tem. The council baving found that m re than the rcquired number of frel' holders of each ward bad signed the petitions , the prayer of thc petitioners were grantcd. The amount of bonds agreed upon as necessary to complete the plant is $15,0011 and the date of election is ' ' called for 'I'uesday , Julv 17. The question of electric ligbts was submitted to the caucus last spring. There were 200 or more voters present at the meeting and the vote was unanimous in favor of putting in the lights. l'he plan is to combine the electric light plant wIth tlic city water plant , as the same machinery - chinery can be used to operate both plants. As a new engIne is now very badly needed at the water works , should thc honds carry , it will enahle the cIty to provide one that will answer both pur- poses. From the estimates the council have received on the cost of installing - stalling such a plant , as would meet the needs of Broken Bow it is thought that $15,000 , in ad- llition to the el ctric light fund on handlwi11 be suO cicnt to meet the xpense.
