Morril Direct. the Cnmpnign.
We note from t e Omaha Bce
that S. P. Morris , formcrly of
this city , is in charge of the collection -
lection work for the San Francisco -
co suffers , in that city. 'rhe Bee
says : ,
"The collection work was in
the hands of Superintendent
Morris of the Associated Charities -
ties and he proved himscif a mas.
ter of such undertakings. From
noon until after 5 o'cleck be had
not less than 240 men and bo's
working under his dircction on a
carefully systematizcd plan. By
reason of thorough organi7.ation
the task was made comparatively
simple. At least three carloads
of material were taken to headquarters -
quarters at the city hall and so
cxpcditious was the work that
one car was loaded at Eighth
and Jackson streets in time for
the special train , started out by
the Union Pacific. All of the
labor was voluntary and no enc
received a penny for his toil.
"Superintendent Morris' plan
included the scnding ont of every
wagon over a plainldt'sigI1atcd
typewritten ronte. Each wag-oil
was equipped with a crew of two
men and one boy. bcsideg the
driver. The boy ) < ept worldng
ahead , notifying the householders -
holders along both sides of the
street to get their contnbutions
ready and the two men followed ,
one on each side of the street to
carry the donations to the wa-
gons. 'J'he scheme was intended
to save time and it did and worked -
ed with splendid suc ess. "
Broken Bow' . Bl\le Dnll Buaten.
The baseball enthusiasts met
Tuesday night and elected Claud
Sidwell captain and he informed
those present that there would be
practice eve y evening , beginning -
ning yesterday , and he desired
all young men ( not boys ) who
could and would play ball this
season to come so that a sufficient
number could be selected to
-
constitute a club.

For the presnt practice gamcs
are on the Haeberle lot , as permanent -
manent grounds have not been

that Manager Bray has diligently -

agonizing tone : "Please , mister
