Cole recci'cd a teleg-ram Friday , from his brother , Will , at Boise , Idaho , that their father - er could not rccover and that their mother was very low. Mr. Cole left on 42 that day to be at the bedside of his parents. Mrs. E. C. HouRe had intended to go on the next train , but a second tcregram to her stated that her parents were both better and hopcs of their recovery was en- tertained. : Sut on Monday she reccived another telegram that her mother was dead and sbc Icft for Boise Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Cole were residents of this city for a number ( If years and arc well and favorable known by a large number of people of this vicinity. They were in the neighborhood of eighty years old. Supreme Court Orden Haddix Arreltt'd SheritT H.ichardson receive ( a telegram from the clerk of the Supremc Court to arrest Scott Haddix , this a. m. Haddix has bcen out on bail since his trial awaiting the re- \'iew of the case by the Supreme Court. In the district court he was found guilty of murder in the : second degree , the 10th day of last September , for the killing of Melvin Butler near Mason City , April 16 , 1905. 'l'he court imposed - posed a sentence of twelve years to the state penitentiary at hard labor , undays excepted. 'l'he case was ; appealed to the Supreme Court and a stay of execution - ecution granted. The defendant gave a bail bond of , OOO and was relcased. The telegram rcceived this a. 111. by the sheriff is thought to be au indication that the Supreme - preme Court has affirmed the trial in the lower court and that Had- dix will be requircd to sen'e the time imposed hy Judge Hostetler.
