"Home trading paj'S ever ) ' man

the long run , and then many

'rhe foregoing was published
in the H.uruDr.lcAN last week and
it's all true. Furthermore. what
'inducement is there to a home
merchant to have and maintain a
good , clean , well built , well painted -
ed store building , amI well conducted -
ducted business , unless he can
have a business that will give
him sufficient profit to pay taxes
and other expenses necessary to
maintain and impro\'c his property -

decency ? If business is to come
from mail order houses such as
Sears H.oebuck & Co. and Montgomery -
gomery Ward & Co. , why not do
away with all the towns , villages ,
postoffices. etc ? Cancel the
village charter , quit busincss ;
send aJl our money away from

large city ; join the R. F. D. route
and bc happy.
If the merchants cannot sell
their goods and get a reasonable

How can a town exist ?
How can a school exist ?
How can a hotel exist ?
How can a commercial traveler 1
exist ?
How about home merchants
selling goods on time and the
same people who ask the home
merchant for time send their cash
to the mail order houses for goods.
Is there any sense or reason in
this ?
Suppose there was no market
for eggs , poultry , butter or any
othe dairy or farm product ?
Then what ? E. Ii' . G.
