'rhe members of the bar of
Ha'ltings ! have helll a meeting
to take action on the Burkett
bill which provides for div < 1 ng
the state into two federal districts
north and south. 'rhe object of
the public meeting was to protest
a north and south division and
demand an east and west divis'ion
instead. A north and south ( Ii-
vision would not be so bad if the
division was proposed on lines of
equity.
The Platte river does not di.

Entering the state in the west-

into the Missouri river a few
miles south of Omaha. It sima
ply separates Lincoln and Omaha
and such a division would only
benefit tliose two cities.
