Vote for no one who will not
support the republican principlcs
if elected.
See the article in the RUI'UIIJ.I-
CAN this week of Geo. Mair enC
C ndidate W. V. Mathews. Mr.
Mair has known him persona11) '
since he was a boy and knows
whercof he speals.
.No one can question the ability
of A. R. Humphrey for County
Attornev , - and his elcction will
not mean a salary at the county's
expense to educate him in the
dutie of his office.
Over confidence is the great
danger the republicans have to
face. 'L'he only sure way iH for
every republican to go to the
polls earl ) ' and see that his
neighbor does not stay at home.
. . - -
Republicans should remember
that a vote for ither a pop or
d lJJocrat candidate for representative -
tative or scnator will be a vote
for Bryan for United States Scna-
tor. A vote for the republican
candidates is a vote against
Bryan. Vote your tic1 t straight.
Do not argue that YOll can stay
at lOme on election day on the
theory that your vote will not he
needed. T-4ast year a republican
majority on the count ) ' board
was secured by a majority of one
vote. 'l'alce no chances on your
vet not being need cd. 1 t may
elect a presideut.
'l'he maintainance of the principles -
ciples of the repuhlican party is
of greater 'importance than the
personality of any candidate.
However good a man may be on
either of the opposition ticlcets
should he be electcd , on al1 questions -
tions of a political nature , he
would be against your interests
aud you cannot alTord to votc for
him for the sake of personal preference -
ference or intimate friendship.

not only cntitled to every republican -

an old settler of the township and

position of Or1e of thc best town-

'l'hc voters of Broken Bow

'l'here are a few , we understand
who are circulating the stor. > '
that W. V. Mathews is not in
favor of temperance and that he
has said that he will not vote
for either "Mickey or Berge because -
cause they are both temperance
men. " Mr. Mathews authorizes
us to state that the statement is
not true , He is not only working
for Governor Mickey but for the
cntire republtcan tickct. Furthermore -
thermore , he is in favor of temperance -
perance legislation and if elected
wiIl support any measure that
has for its object a betterment of
our laws on that question. li'ur-

It is a little surprising that
the fusionists who have al ways
claimed to be opposed to corporation -

'rhe corporations did every
thing possihle to get the cou rt

unconstitutional that they might
get out of paying their just pro.

'I'he following protest has been I
issued by the Populists of T4incoln '
county , and is heing' circulated
and signcd by a great mauy
members of that party in ro4incoln
count ) ' :
"We , the under igncd Populists -
lists of r4incoln count ) ' , Nebraska -
ka , herehy register our disapproval -
val of , and vigorously protest
against the action of the Chairman -
man allll Secretary of thc Congressional -
gressionalConvention \ of this
Congressional District in issu i ng
a certiticate of nomination , as
thc Populist candidate , to W. B.
McNeel of this county , who had
already been nominated by the
dcmocrats , aud as ign the fol1ow-
ing reasons for such action :
1l1i'irst-Because it does not
represent the sentiment or will
of the Populists of this district ,
nor of even a respectable majority -
jority of them. 'l'wo men enl ) '
participated in this nominatiou ,
and they received their authority
if any they had , from a convention -
tion attended by delegates from
Dawson and BulTalo counties
alone.
IlSecond-Because Mr. l\IcNeel
was , at and before the time of
his nomination , an openly avowed -
ed anti-fusion Parker Democrat ,
and so stated on the streets of
North Platte imU1ediatety before
entering the convention , where
he was nominted on that very
issue , the convention giving very
positive expression of the sentiment -
ment Cno fusionist need apply. '
The first question asked regarding -
ing every candidate by those unacquainted -
acquainted with him , when his
name was presented , was 'is he a
Pop ? ' and the next 'is he in fa VOl
of fusion ? ' and they showed very
plainly they had no use for either.
In his speech of accept ance Mr.
McNeel emphasized this sentiment -
ment and announced that he
would make a vigorous campaig11
for Democracy and that noblest
of Democrats , and most eminent
jurist , AIton n. Parker.
" 'l'hircl-Because we estccm it
an insult to the inte1ligcnce ani !
sincerity of every Populist in the
district to ask or expect him tG
vote for any such candidate committee -
mittee as Mr. McNeel is to that
very plutocratic element to com.
bat which the populist party wa
organized.
" 'l'o g'e this protest th
greatest possible elT ct we hereby -
,
by pledge each other that wt
wiJI not only refrain from voting
for Mr. McNeel , but wiJI makt
every vote count two in snpporl
of this protest by voting for lIon ,
M. P. Kinkaid , the Hepublical
candidate , and we reCOUlmen (
and urgc our Populist brethen
throughout the District to adopl
the same policy. "
