What effects them effects him. He could not , if hc would , vote against their il1ter- ests ami for his own interest at the same time. 'l'here are no communities coin posed entirc1J of women , if there were , men could lay unjust taxcs on thcir property hut as it is he could not without laying the Stllne tax on his own. And bcsides . would it seem rcasonablc' for a woman to considcr some man good enough for her husband and still could not trtmt him to do the voting ? 'l'he Crcator placcd men and women in the world and meant that each should Iil their own sphcre in life and not that either should be expccted to perform the dutics of both , for that would make life too burdonsome. , 'Woman's rcalm is the home and if she fills that properly she has care and responsibilities enough without looking'- after the man's part , such as politics. Man was meant to face the puLhc aud rUll the govcrnment , woman to lead a sheltered life , shieldcd from the world , not that a woman's place is by any means insignifican-not that all-but she is a far grander being in hcr home , where God meant her to be protected , than she could possibly be as a poli- titian , True , any woman of integrity is able to go amongst the public and fight her own battles but to a refincd and sen- si ti ve woman , a public position is very unpleasant. Woman Suffrage might have a purifying effect on politics for a short ti'me but in the long run it would degrade the nation , Politics is being corrupted by men who are seeking office but would not women soon seek office too and are they not just as human - man as men and , no more in- falibl ? Let the men be manly and conduct their part in life and not look to the womcn to o so , for to cast all the burdcn on women - men would be to become like Indians and would be a sure sign that the nation is deteriorating. Voting is not so much a privilege - ege for a woman as it is a res- ponsihility. A wrong vote does harm. Woman Suffrage would create a wrong condition since in some cascs both parents would be out lectioneering for ol1 ce at the same timc and what would he- come of the home ? And why should men be puppets - pets uuder woman's command ? 'When war was declared men would he expectcd to do the fighting-women would do the voting and hold the of1 ces. If women want to run the government - ment they ought to he compelled to defend it in war.
