F. A. Amsberry of Mason City ,
who purchased the Mason City
Star of A. H. Barks some six
months ago , has associated his
name with that of W. F. Green-
lee as editors of the Star. Frank
has had considerable experience
in editorial and newspaper work
in vears past and the temptation
of owning a newspaper and not
being a part of it was too great
for him. The RUPUDLICAN wishes -

o'clock a.m. , Merrieau. daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. B. O. Hutton of
this city. age about three years.
The deceased had been suffcring
for ten days or two weeks with
bronchial pnumonia. The case
from the first was of an aggrated '
form. The best of medical treatment -
ment and nursing was imp10yed
but it was not possible to wrest
the dread disease. The deceased
was the only child and she was
the idol of the home as well as
the pet of all who knew her.
The parents have the deep sympathy -
pathy of the community in their
great bcreavement. The funeral
services were conducted in the
Baptist church by Rev. S. P.
Morris , yesterday afternoon , thc
services being largely attended ,
after which the remains were
laid to rest in the Broken Bow
Cemetery.

J. S. Molyneux returned the
first of the week from a visit
with a brother and sister over in
Iowa. He reports having enjoyed -
ed a pleasant trip.
Jolm DeMerritt , formed } " of
this vicinity , now located at
Alexandria in the furniture business -
ness , was a social caller at this
office Monday. Mr. DeMerritt is I
here looking after some property I
he owns in Berwyn.
The regular meeting of the
Roosevelt club will be held Friday -
day night. The program will
consist of special music and short
speeches. An opportunity will
be given to all who have not yet
become members to enroll.
The RI\PUDLICAN desires again
to remind the farmers conveniently -
ently located of the meeting of
the Farmers Institute to be held
in this city on the 23rd. A fine
program and speakers from the
state experimental station assures
a profitable time tor all.
