I will here give one of those Psychological pe- culiarties to show how great 'is the powcr of mind over matter. AUhough our farm was on the Underground Railroad and I had seen a great many negroes pass that way , who often stopped and te with us and also there . were se\'eral colored families. near us and m ) ' father sometimcs hired them to work , I thought nothing of sitting down and eating at the samc table , but in the summer of 1852 , I. was about H years old and m } ' brother , 10 years older ; we i were in the habit after our wheat was cut to help our ncighbors finish theirs. ly brother was a first class cradler 'and I , a prett ) . good binder - er and this year after our wheat was cut a neighbor of ours living a mile or so away asked us is we would hclp him.
