One day last week , as Mrs. Eb.
Nichelson , who resides just a
short distance southwest of here ,
was sitting in her parlor , she
heard her pet cat give a yawl as
if it was in distress. Going to
the door to ascertain the cause
she found the cat and a largc
eagle in a deaHy combat. 'l'hc
cat had ben sunning itself on the
porch when the eagle swooped
down upon it. Mrs. Nichelson
gathered up a broom and sailed
in on the btnl and in a short time
had it hors de ombat. It proved -
ed to be of the bah1 headed
species and measured six feet
from tip to tip of its wings.
