Miss Henne of Merna , was in the city Saturday and informed us that the rumor that she had declined to accept the position she was elected to in Broken Bow schools is a mistakc. We are pleased - I ed to note this correction. Miss Henne is a lady of culture and refinement and bears the reputation - tion of being enc of the best instructors - structors in the county. IURD. SnIvnRs-At her home south of the city , JulrlG , 1903 , Mrs. Seivers , , vife 0 G. E. Seivers , foreman of what is known as the Seybolt ranch , aged 25 years , 7 months and four days. 'l'he deceased was born December - ber 12 , 1878 , and was married , septcmbcr 27 , 1895 , to G. E. Selvers. 'rhe deceased had been an invalid for several months , re- 'suIting from gaul stones , for which she submitted to a surgical - cal operation at I.Ancoln several montbs ago. The operation proved fairly successful but the wound never completely healed. Sbe had been a great sufferer several weeks before death relieved - lieved her. She leaves a husband and one child , a boy seven years old , to' mourn her death. Tbe funeral was conducted from her residcnce Saturday , July 18 , Rev. Geo. P. Trites officiating , after which her remains were laid to rcst in the Broken Bow Cemetery. The RnpUnIICA joins with the friend of th deceased in extend- ing sympatl y to thc bereaved husband and son. A Surprise I'arty. About fifty members of the M. B. A. visited the home of J. H. C sner-Tuesday night to give the family a farewell reception. 'fhe visitors were well supplied with cake and ice cream' which they enjoyed together. After the refreshments were served the evening was spent in sOJial chat , music and games. Those that did not depart before the rain did not get away until after l'oclock , and seveal from the country rc- mained in the city until morning. Allen , a young attorney - ney of Lincoln and a graduate of the State University is spoken of as a candidate for Regent. The removal of C. J. Ernest from Lincoln - coln leaves Lancaster county without a representative on the board of Regents and as it is thought best to have one of the Regents located near the University - sity there is but little doubt but the state will look favorable upon - on Mr. Allen for the position.
