iu Schoharie county , New York ,
January 7 , 18 6 ; camt : to Nebraska -
ka in 1870 , where he resided till
the time of his death which oc-
cured March 27 , 1903 , at the
home of his daughter Mrs. J' . N.
Weeth. He leaves two sisters
nd one brother who reside in
New York also one brother in
Norton county , Kansas to mourn
his loss. Mr. Karkar was verl ) '
highly respected by all who lmew
him , was a firm . . believer in Christ
as his savior. His funeral was

arrested Monday for gambling.

court suspendcd the scntence o [

ha\'iour. Should thc second

will be forfeited. Barker was
remanded to .jail on failure to

found so large a percentof young
men that do not drink. In towns
where sa100ns exist the majorit y

in the county where he had been ,
where there is a s loon there
were 38 that .drink and 26 that
do not.

The REPUDLICAN is pained to
announce the death'of Seth Johnson -
son of Westen.ille , who committed -
ted suicide last Friday nigh tat -
at Mason City by taking carbolic

The deceased had previously
been temporarily insane and it
was while thus effected he committed -
mitted the deed. He was sent

to a neighbors to borrow a wire
stretcherbnt instead of returning
with the object of his errand he
walked to Mason City , a distance
of 12 miles or more , whert : after
going to the barber shop for a
shave he went to his room at the
hotel where he took the drug
that ended his life. His friends
telephoned over the neighbor-

when he failed to r < ; turu , but id
not succecd until it was too late
to save him. 'I'he deceased was
married. and leaves a wife and
one child , parents and several
brothers and sisters to mourn his
untimely death. He was a
brother to Char1ie Johnson , who
was formerly in business in this
city and the son of Ruben John-
sonone of the most highly res-
p cted citizens of the vicmity of
Westerville. The REPUBLICAN
extends the sympath.r of the
friends to the relatives in their
great bereavement.

school for Broken Bow. At this
meeting a committe was appointed -
