We arc informed by Agent
Ormsby that we werc misinformed -
ed about the telelhone bcing ordered -
dered out of the depot. The
facts are , as he states them , that
thc ofiicc was rushed with business -
ness during the holidays , and
that some people had become
ycr ) ' presistant in telephoning
the depot cvery few minutes.
making inquiry about the trains ,
so that they could not attend to
thc telcgnlph business and tele-
phone. lIe requcsted the manager -
ag-er of the tclephone company to
disconnect the depot telephonc
until the rush was over. It was
a nccessity to stop the abuse and
not thc 'usc 6f the telephone 'pri : .
vileges that caused Mr. Ormsby
to suspend the 'phone tetnporar-
illy. It was the understanding
when the 'phone was put in the
depot that central would answer
all calls in reference to trains.
If the customers would adhere
strictI ) ' to that rule th.c pther
business O\'cr t he 'phone can bc
attended too without great in-
convenience. Mr. Ormsby ex-
presscs his willingness to accom-
molate the public to the extent
of his ability and time , but their
hundreds of other duties each
demand their proportionate share.
