Misses Florence Emerson , Nellie - lie and Jessie Rector , returned to school Monday. \Ve now have two large stoves in the commercial departmeut and one in the typwriting. This makes the rooms a great deal more comfortable. Since writing the notes of last week it has been decided to .give a vacation of two weeks instead of'a little more than a week as was announced then. Prof. Macy drove over fmm ' Callaway last Friday in company 'with Miss Morgan.who wished to see. our school. They returned Saturday. Miss Cora Beckwith who has been holding a position as stenographer - grapher and book-keeper , with Senator Currie at Sargent , return- to school Monday and resumed her work in the short-hand department - partment , For the benefit of the business community it has been decided to begin a night school immediately after the holidays. Those who wish to attend and take up arithmetic - metic , book-keeping or work in penmanship , may do so at reasonable - able rates. ' 1'110 . Y. P. u. ' .rhe entertainment given by the B. Y. P. U. in the south east corner . of the Reatty : Blocl , last Frid.a.y ni.ght was quite a successful - ful affaIr. The Stereopticon lecture on the Spanish American \Var was an attractive feature of the entertainment and was well rendered by Rev. S. P. Morris , Pastor of the Baptist church. The able manner in which he presented this historical scene of that memorable event was no less interesting than the scenery that marked the path and reproduced the engagements and conquests of the American ann ) ' and navy as they were thrown upon the canvass. The pleasure of the lecture was fully equaled in the part that followed , especially by the male portion of the audience , as they vIed with each other in their efforts to secure the baslcets of their choice as th y were auctioned off to the highest bidder. A lunch that was probably - ably worth 25 cents brought all the way from 50 cents to a. dollar and several purchased from two " " 1-- ' ' - ; , ; = ; I ' ' ' , . , .
