member of the Modern Brotherhood -

January 1901. She took' out a
policy of S2000 in favor of her
husband up to September 24 ,
1902 , whcn she died she had paid
into the organization in assessments -
ments at the rate of 50 cents on
S1000 , fees and ducs and reserve
S35. On the morning of thc 18
of No\'cmber , three day aftcr the
hoard meeting of the directors of
he order , which passes upon the
proof of all death claims the
writcras local secretary of the
order received a. draft for S2000
in favor of the bcncficiary of the
deccascd. This , was a not gain
of S ! 965.00 on an 111 ves tme n t of
S35.00. Had the 'holder of this
policy lived 40 ye.ars longer there
would stil have been a large
profit on Hie investmcnt. . . Having -
ing included thc paymcnts for
which the policy was liable in
the abovc , the rcmaining dues
and assessments could not , undcr
the laws , rulcs and rcgulations
of the order have exceed the payment -
ment of U5.00 annually or S600.
