Elect him' ' county clerk aud you will havu anil efficient aud accommodating officer who will attend to the interests of the people , .egardless of political Unllinrny Con rier. The ftisionifitH nro pretty hard pressed for campaign material .in Nebraska this fall , It is uo wonder that the rooiMit burning of the Norfolk Asylum for the insane , is considered a sort of godsend. The yellow papers all claim it IB the carrying out of a republican scheme to burn up all the state buildings. After all the wind that has been expended by the po"p papers ou the county superintendent question , it scorns that the only fault they can find with the republican candidate is that ha wan atone time n populist aud that bo taught school outside of the county. These are very serious chargcH , and they ought to be in vestigated. \ The pop papers toll us that , hav ing turned the county over to the republicans clear of debt , a seven 'mill levy is enough to pay the ruc- ntng e'xponsea of the county horc- ifter. The republicans will uu- loubtedly manage te get along with i Bovan mill levy. But the pop mpors assured us five years ago that they had the county out of debt. What have they been doing with a fourteen and eighteen mill levy over ninco ? It looks hko an acknowledgement that the republi cans can run the county on half vhat the pops required. . ' Anslcy Chronical. The republican board of Super 'visors have run the county on 7 mills this year. This is just half the amount of what the populist board required to run the same oou'ity business. For the lam ten years with the uui exception of 1800 , the republicans of Ouster oouuty have rnado rapid gaitm. 'Tbo gain this year will put the repii'iliimm in control of ' the county government. The people's money could not bo placed in safer bauds than these of Wall Hi ! r e , r publiG.ui c' < ndi i. U- for tiuatiurvr. He in not only com. lutont , but is a shrewd businosH man and a prosperous farmer. The republican candidate tor Hhor'ff , it. D. Sullivan , has all the jualilioations to make a good shor. ff. ilo is also a man of good character actor and highly respected by his neighbors. Thia is not fulsome flattery but obvious facts. Vole for Sullivan. The Beacon says it isn't right to vote against a candidate because of us religious belief. The Beacon las reference to Mr. * Murry , the )0puliat candidate , who is a Oath , olio. Now , the Bouoon is the first newspaper to mention the matter of Vlurrj's religion , No republican lownpapor has attempted to make capital out of it , neither is it the intontionsof any republican to do so. If the voters of Cuttter county want a Catholic at the head of the county schools , Mr. Murry is as ; oed a Catholic for the place ae any. C. 0. Lind , Chairman of the board of supervisors , is the republi can candidate for register of dot-ds. i r. Lind was elected to the board as a republican in a populist strong- lold which goes to show how ho is regarded at homo among his uoigh- 3ors. Since ho became a member of the board ho won a reputation for business ability in conducting county business. His honesty and gentlemanly manners have won for Him ft host of friends , in all political parties who will oat their votes for him regardless of politics , because lie is an honest , straightforward business farmer , who will conduct the ollloo in the interest of his con stituents. J. A. Armour is agpin before the people of Custor for the office of county Judge. During the last four years Mr. Armour has served the people faithfully and has attended - od to the business of his office with far more accuracy than hp over did his own business affairs , which is saying a good , deal. No iairer minded , unprejudiced man ever sat upon the bonou in Custer county. Ilo has discharged the duties of his office in a manner that has won the admiration of oven his political'op- pouents. His character is above reproachhis honesty has never been doubted , and as a judge , before whom justice is meted , there is no bettor man anywhere to be found than Mr. J. A. Armour. The Chronicle has followed closely - ly the uncalled for attacks and per son a ! thrusts , made 'by ' the Ouster County Uoacou upon the 'candidacy of Prof , J. W , Q. Lowip , rcpubli. can candidate lor county fitiporin. tondeut. Wick after week the columns of that newspaper nro Htuifud with misleading statements and oruol insinuation , purposely to t > ois u ll.c inuulrt of iho rojili g public and leave , if possible , the indelible impression that Mr. Lewis is not the man , either by nature or education , to hold the position of oouuty superintendent. The Beacon is claiming that Mr. Lowiu is not a resident of Custer county. Now eujh a claim is utterly faloo. Mr. Lewis ln been a resident of this county for twenty yoarrf. Sev eral times he has been out of the county teaching school , as BO many others do who follow that profes sion , but his homo has always been m Cuatcr county. Another bomb thrown at Mr. Lewis is that ho was once a populist aud left that party because ho did not get the nomina tion for superintendent. Thia is also a campaign lio. Mr. Lewis was born and raised a republican" aud east his presidential vote for William McKinloy. To those not acquainted with Mr. Lewie , such false claims by that newspaper which has maligned HO many good men , might have a tendency to mis led , while as a matter of fact Mr. Lewis is not only a good republican but is an excellent citizen. Ho is an exceedingly bright young man , finely educated and free from nil bad habits. As an educator ho is already a leader in his profession. The office of superintendent would bo ably filled by him and wo have no doubt but he will bo the one who will fill it. Lyiichburg , Va.
