A Custer County Farmer. Samuel Waddington , of Ortello was a business caller at this office Saturday. Mr. Waddington shipped last week five oars of cattle and bogs to Omaha of his own' foading. There were twenty cars of stock shipped at the same time from Amselmo and Merna of Cuater County raising. Mr. Waddington received $5.00 for bis cattle and $0.00 for his hogs , netting the hand some sum of $5,585. In speaking of Mr. Waddinpton's shippment , The Daily Drovers Journal-Stockman of Omaha has the following : S. Waddington marketed four loads of cattle and one of hogs here today and like all the patrons of South Omaha , was highly pleased with results. His cattle wera bought when oalvos , high grade Short-horns and Hcrefords , and had been on feed seven and one-half months He started in on shocked corn , then followed snapped corn and they were finished on shelled corn , with milUt'hay for roughness , Big gains were made , but as the cattle were nt weighed into the feed lot , the exact figure could not be obtained. Today the C4 head weighed 1,302 Iba a bd sold at $5 00. His hogs , 01 head of Poland Chinas , a * year old averaged 310 Ibs and hold to Swift at the day's high p rice , $0 , Mr. Waddiugton has resided in Ouster county thriteen jearf and says the rainfall in his section is the heaviest ho has ever known.
