A Custer County Farmer.
Samuel Waddington , of Ortello
was a business caller at this office
Saturday. Mr. Waddington shipped
last week five oars of cattle and
bogs to Omaha of his own' foading.
There were twenty cars of stock
shipped at the same time from
Amselmo and Merna of Cuater
County raising. Mr. Waddington
received $5.00 for bis cattle and
$0.00 for his hogs , netting the hand
some sum of $5,585.
In speaking of Mr. Waddinpton's
shippment , The Daily Drovers
Journal-Stockman of Omaha has
the following :
S. Waddington marketed four
loads of cattle and one of hogs here
today and like all the patrons of
South Omaha , was highly pleased
with results. His cattle wera bought
when oalvos , high grade Short-horns
and Hcrefords , and had been on
feed seven and one-half months
He started in on shocked corn , then
followed snapped corn and they
were finished on shelled corn , with
milUt'hay for roughness , Big gains
were made , but as the cattle were
nt weighed into the feed lot , the
exact figure could not be obtained.
Today the C4 head weighed 1,302 Iba
a bd sold at $5 00. His hogs , 01
head of Poland Chinas , a * year old
averaged 310 Ibs and hold to Swift

looking fine , but corn is rather
