Mr. Malvin Ezekiel Mickens, 50
years, passed away Wednesday,
March 24th in Los Angeles, Cali
fornia, where he had been making
his home for the past two years
Mr. Mickens was a former resi
dent of Omaha and was a veteran |
of World War 1. He is survived,
by two sisters, Mrs. Martha
Goodwin, Omaha; Mrs. Mary
Neyland, San Francisco. Calif.;
two brothers, Mr. John Mickens,
Omaha and Mr. Louis Mickens,
Old Ocean, Texas and other rela
tives. Funeral services were held
Tuesday afternoon from Thomas
Mortuary with the Rev. James
Stuart, Sr., officiating, assisted
by Rev Wm. P Smith. Pall bear
ers, Mr. Simon Levison, Collins
Lee, Gus Murrell, G. Bradley,
Curtis Brown, Charles Montgom
jery. Burial was at Mt. Hope

Mrs. Aline Dobard Sims, age
55 years, of 2623 Seward Street,
expired Sunday afternoon March
21, 1954 at a local hospital. She
was an Omaha resident 36 years.
She is survived by her daughter,
Mrs. Hattie Hays, Omaha; broth
er, John Melton, St. Paul, Minn.;
father, Dave Melton, Greenville,
Ala.; four grandchildren; three
i nephews; two nieces.
Funeral services were held Fri

Albert Calloway, 67 years
formerly of Omaha, expired Wed
nesday March 24, 1954 in a local
hospital in Denver, Colorado. He
was an Omaha resident 45 years
and was a member of the Deacon
Board of Zion Baptist Church for
twenty years. He was also a
member of Hiram Lodge No. 10,
F. & A.M., Richard Rice, W. M.
He is survived by is wife, Mrs.
Willa Mae Calloway; two sons,
Albert and Gerald Calloway; two
daughters. Mrs. Norma McGee
and Mrs. Vivian Vaughn; four
grandchildren.

Wednesday March 31, 1954 at
2:00. p.m. from the Zion Baptist
Church with Rev. F. C. Williams
officiating assisted by Revs.

79 years, 1604 North 29th Street,
passed away Monday morning
February 22nd at a local hos
pital. Mrs. Buxton had been a
resident of Omaha twenty years
and was bom and raised in Ne
braska. She was for years a
Practical nurse in Grand Island
before retirement and moving to
Omaha. Mrs. Buxton is survived
by one daughter, Mrs. Ruth M.
Phillips, two sons, Mr. George
A. and Mr. Edward M. Buxton,
Omaha, five grand children.
Funeral services were held Thurs
day afternoon from Thomas
Mortuary with Rev. W. A. Fow
ler officiating. Burial was at Mt.
Hope Cemetery.
Preston Harbin, 64 years, 1428
North 23rd Plaza, was found
dead Thursday evening at his
home. Death was apparently due
to a heart attack. Mr. Harbin had
been a resident of Omaha fifty
years and was custodian at the
Military Theatre. He is survived
by a sister, Mrs. Willetta Dates,
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, niece,
Mrs Pauline Simpson, nephew,
Mr. Johnnie Harbin, of Omaha
