BRINGING CHRIST
TO THE NATIONS
Saint Louis, Mo., June 20,
(Special) “The Problem of
RRight Living” was discussed
today by the Reverend Profes
sor Oswald Hoffman, profes
sor at Concordia Collegiate In
stitute, Bronxville, New York,
and summer guest speaker on
Bringing Christ to the Nations
the International Lutheran
Hour. Speaking over the Mut
ual Broadcasting System an I
affiliated stations, Professor
Hoffman declared: “Cod ent
ers into the lives of men with
the same devastating newer as
He enters into nature and his
tory. ‘The wrath of God is re
vealed from heaven’, Paul as
serted in the first chapter of
Romans, ‘against all ungodli
ness and unrighteousness of
men.’ From that wrath' none 01
us can escape. ‘Lord, if Thou
shouldest mark iniquities; who
shall stand?’ No man by doing
good, or by trying his best is
going to turn that wrath aside.
‘There is none righteous, no,
nott one. There is none that
understandeth, therei is none
thSf seeketh after God. They
are all ggone out of theh way,
there are together become un
profitable; there is noe that
doeth good, no, not one.’ That
is God's Judgment on the
world,”
Professor Hoffman contin
ued : “I should deceive you If
I left you under the impression
that accepting Jesus Christ
will make no difference in your
life. It will make a difference.
A big difference. God will ent
er your life. When He enters
He will not just be talking. He
will be acting. He ill take hold
of your head and \-our hands.
willHe will turn them to His
own purposes. This does not
mean that you will loste your
individuality. But you will be
come an instrument in God’s
hands so that He may have
His good with you. God will
work in you both to will and
tto do of His good pleasure.
“So God stands ready to take
you and use you through faith
in Jesus Christ. If your life
has been purposeless and with
out direction this the answer
to your p'robfem. If your life
has gone off on the wrong
track and is stalled there, this
is the answer to your problem.
Look to Jesus Christ and let
God get you back on the main
line.”

TRUST DISSOLVED
New York City—(WDL)—
The Mortgage Conference of
Greater New York, an aggre
gation of the biggest banks and
insurance companies control
Ing 80 per cent of New York
City ’s building mortgages, was
dissolved June 16 by order of
'L'.S. Judge John Knox. The
court order also called upon
the Mortgage Conference’s
member banks and insurance
companies to halt restrictive
practices in making mortgage
loans.
This federal anti-trust case
originally filed in June 1946, in
volved charges of maintaining
racial maps of the city, refrain
■ - * .
ing from making mortgage
loans in Negro blocks and in
ducing real estate owners to
bar Negroes. The defendants,
without admitting the charges,
agreed to the dissolution ord
er. Throughout the 2-year per
iod since the case was filed the
Workers Defence League and
the Committee of Racial
Equality campaigned to pre
vent it 'from becoming stalled
and repeatedly called on the
anti-trust division of the De
partment of Justice for a
promp prosecution.
