In care of C.B.—I have two years of col lege but’ whenever I look for a job, it is admitted I’m qualif ied, but they make excusses and someone else gets the job. What must I do? I need work. Ans: (io to Business School or take up some other course of study. When you have a trade or are trained for some work in particular, you can get a job without delay. At present you have a good foun dation but you ha\en’t a pro fession or any experience. This “I can do anything atti tude ge‘s you nowhere when* applying for employment. You must apply for a specific job and state your qualifications in such a way as to fit the job you are applying for. L. M.C. —I feel like someone who has been cast by the way side. My husband has desert ed me and taken up with a woman who is a drunkard, a gambler and everything else she shouldn’t be and he al ways said he hated woman of this type. What must I do? Ans: Sit steady in the boat and give your husband ample time to realize his mistake. It will dawn on him all of a sud den one of these days just what he has done and will want to right his wrong. For the time being, be patient and give him time to find himself. He’s a good man in the past and will be good again. M. G.—I have two girl friends I like. One wrote me and said she loved me and I answered back that I loved her but she is real jealous. She is nice looking. The other one is big and fat and when she walks she shimmies and she looks good to me and I’m not kid ding. She keeps her eye on me all of the time and I call her Baby Darling. Now, what’s the score ? Ans: A case of puppy-love and no serious thoughts between any of you. All of the lassie look good to you rignt now— and you had better continue to feel that way until you are in a position to center our thou ghts on one. Keep your dis tance—it's safer. Unfortunate —I am 24 years old and have been exposed to three years of college. My life has been very hard. Many many days I have gone with out eating except for a piece of bread and water just to complete my education. Now I have been severly criticized by my own folks and others to the extent that I am nervous, frustrated, no initiative, no confidence, I don’t have the courage to speaU what I think and 1 am not independent of action. My last quarter at the school proved a failure. Help me. Ans: A job will restore your confidence and bring about a decided change for the better in your life. You must not feel disillusioned about failing last quarter — you undertook too much. Work and save your money this spring and summer and next fall arrange to go back to the university and take up the study of law which in terests you so much. I.M.P.— My hubby and I are nearing 50 and he bought a lot and wants to build. I don’t like thq lot because it is so far from the stores and the church. What I would like to know is should let him build or not? Ans: The lot is situated in a beautiful section which will build up rapidly. However, the transportation will be a pro blem until there are enough homes in the district to warr ent bus service. The pleasure you would get from a new home will more than offset the inconvenience of transporta tion for a year or so. SiE* VORW I TRAFFI NEWS Nebraska State Safety Patrol Safer driving habits on the part of Nebraska drivers can pay off as is evidenced by the fact that insurance rates on private passenger cars were reduced by many companies March 22nd. the Nebraska St ate Safety Council advised this paper today . Dwight Havens, President of the Council, announced he had learned that the National Bureau of Casuality Compan ies had reduced the insurance rates applicable to private pas senger cars on the average of 6.1 per cent for bodily injury and 14.7 per cent for property i liability insurance. So far, Nebraska is the only state re ceiving such a reduction. This will mean a saving of approxi mately $680,000 to Nebraska policyholders. “Our continued efforts to be. safer drivers can pay off to an even greater extent in the future,” Havens said. “If Neb raska attains its goal of saving 100 lives in ’48 with resultant ] decrease in accidents, our in-' surance rates could be reduc ed even further, and, let us not overlook the resultant sav ing in human suffering which accompanies every accident,” Havens concluded. Good Government Sunday The President of the Omaha Council of Churches, Mr. Fred P. Curtis, today requested the churches of Omaha to observe Sunday, April 4, as “Good Go vernment Sunday.” The appeal was the result of a unamious action of the ex ecutive committee of thet Coun cil of Churches upon recom mendation of its Social Educa tion amd Action Committee. “A good Christian must also be a good citizen,” said Mr. Curtis. “To have good govern ment, people must register to vote. They must vote for pub lic officials of high moral char acter, who will put common welfare above selfish interest, who will control vice, and who will be leaders in civic better ment.” He urged that churches em phasize the duties of citizen ship as a minimum necessity for good government. “It is of utmost importance that the candidates for public office shall be nominated in the Pri mary on April 13 by our best citizens. The Primary vote has often run as light as 15.000 or 20.000.” he said. The president of the church organization said that 50,000 printed folders would be distri buted thfoug^i the churches next Sunday by the Omaha Council of Churches urging that “A good citizen wants and insists on good government.” He congratulated the chur ches' on the excellent emphasis which has been given by them to the necessity for registering before April 2nd. The Omaha Council of Chur ches is a voluntary associa tion of churches through which 77 local churches of 22 denom inations cooperate.
