Preston was held S-’nday afternoon at the beau tiful Elks ballrom, February 23rd, 1947 from 4 until 7 p. m. A host of friends and well wishers for continuous happiness of the couple, filled the ballroom. The receiving line was headed by Mrs A. L. Hawkins a close friend of the Prestons. She was wearing a lovely floral corsage with her black crepe formal. Rev. W. S. Metcalf the minister who married the couple 25 years ago, was next in line. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Preston were next. Mrs. Pres ton was wearing a beautiful floral corsage with her stunning rose color formal. Mrs. Ida Giles, mo ther of Mrs. Preston, had on a black chiffon formal and a lovely corsage. Miss Charlotte Preston, daughter of the Prestons, wore a formal of black and white. A beautiful and enjoyable mus ical program was rendered by the different organizations that Mr. and Mrs. Preston are affiliated with. Jt■ i ■-!■■■■■ — .. The Program was as follows: 1. Three band numbers by the Elks Junior Band. 2. Song by Elks Ensemble. 3. O’Promise Me, sung by Mrs. Lillian Stevenson. 4. Reading by Reverend F. S. Metcalf. 5. I Love You Truly sung by Miss Charlotte Preston. 6- Onward Christian Soldier sung by Elks Ensemble directed by Mr. Preston. 7. Bless This House, sung by The Elks Ensemble directed by Mr. Preston closed the musical program by singing for the guest that immortal hymn “Steal A way”. Mr. Reese was Master of Ceremonies. BETTIE PITTMAN, the former Bettie Davis, is reported doing very nicely, after being blessed with the birth of an 6ix pound, twelve ounce baby girl who the young couple have named Antionette. The baby was born last Wednesday February 19th at Methodist Hospital. Mrs. Pittman is secretary at St. Philips Church and is a law stud ent at Creighton university. Mr. Pittman is a veterinarian, with offices located at 49th and Dodge streets. * * * NEW ARRIVAL Cynthia Ann, announces her ar rival to Mr. and Mrs. Hardiman, of 2856 Wirt St. Cynthia Ann was born at Doctor’s Hospital, weigh ing eight pounds. There was several absentees due to illness and death. Mrs. Hlen Brown underwent an operation at the Lutheran Hospit al. She is reported improved at this time. Mr. Arthur Rone was called to his father’s bedside in Oklahoma. Mrs. Roy White lost her brother in-law, Mr. Walker. The Club ex tends their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family. We also w’ish Mrs. Brown a very speedy recovery and also Mr. Rone’s father. Mrs. Eula Young was appointed a member of the Sick Committee. The Club sent a donation to the James E. Seay Fund, sponsored by The Omaha Guide. A very enjoyable evening was spent by all. After the meeting the hostess served a delightful luncheon after which the members enjoyed the rest of the evening in games. WOMEN OF WESTERN BAPTIST DISTRICT HOLD GET ACQUAINTED MEETING We thank all who were able to attend and all who desired to co operate with the Ladies of the Iowa. Nebraska, and Minnesota Baptist Association in their “Get Acquainted” meeting, held on Feb. 17 and 18 at the Tabernacle Bapt ist Church, Council Bluffs, Iowa. Monday night was given to the Sunday Schools of the District un the auspices of Mrs. Ada J. Fields and the Red Circle Bands under Mrs. Elsie Bell. The programs rendered were educational and in spiring. Tuesday morning sermon was preached by Rev. E. Green and the Bible Study conducted by Rev. J. R. Reynolds, At 1:30 the ladies of the Tabernacle served a dinner that was all a dinner could be_ the food was good, well prepared, and well-served. After dinner Rev. Reynolds gave us another lesson on "Love” which would have been well for all Oma han to hear. Tuesday night Rev. Young preached and the Queens Rally highlighted the program. In the Woodson Center Basket ball League the Near Northside team is standing second. These league games are played each Thursday night at Highland school The-Ladder Ping Pong Tourna ment has just started at the Bran ch. There are three sections to the tournament with Marty Thomas as Tournament Director. There is the Senior, Junior and Gra-Y entries in the tournament. The tournament will continue until March 29th. If you like the game of ping pong, drop in at the Branch any after non and watch the boys and young men battle for the top round of the ladder. More about this later. Mr. John Butler, Executive Sec retary, and Travis Dixon, have Just returned from the Area Council Meeting and Association of Secret aries meeting in Wichita, Kansas. They report that the conferences were interesting and of tremend ous value to the program of the Branch. Airplane and craft classes con ducted each afternoon and Satur day morning at the “Y” still prove to be a most interesting activity to the boys. Add green peppers and onions and cook until onTona are yellow. Add flour, salt, paprika, and pepper and blend. Add milk gradually stirring' constantly, and cook until thickened. CHEESE WHIRLS ^ 1 eop rifted flour cup grated cheese*-a. 11a teaspoons baking powder ! 2 tablespoons pimiento, cut • 'A teaspoon salt in pieces ■ 3 tablespoons Spry 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped .• 6 tablespoons milk s Gift flour with baking powder and salt. Cut in Spry fine. Add milk and cheese, mining to a soft dough. Knead lightly on floured board for about 20 seconds Roll dough into rectangle. Sprinkle pimiento and parsley over dough Rollup like ieUr roll. Cut into 34-inch slices. Pour boiling hot fish mixture into oblong 10 x 6-inch baking dish and lay biscuit slices on top, cut side up. Bake in hot oven (426® FJ 25-30 minutes. Serves 6. v v
