He said and I quote “I’ve never seen so many handsome men and beautiful wom en.” Then he said, “Maybe years had made me more appreciative and he went further to say that maybe this crowd was too nice,.... maybe I could appreciate some not so nice. COOK ELECTRICALLY You don’t have to be an experienced cook to turn out superb meals in a hurry these days! No, indeed! A new electric range takes the guesswork and the gamble out of cooking. Broiling, baking, and top-of-the stove cooking are so accurately controlled you get grand, uniformly dependable and delicious results, always — and in jig-time, too. So why not plan to have the conveni ence of faster cooking—and the pleasure of better eating—with an electric range!/ OMAHA PUBLIC POWER DISTRICT BROTHERLY BEHAVIOR -BY CAPT. EARLE CONOVER BROTHERLY BEHAVIOR What a thrilling thought it is to think that every day this week, all across this great Country, there are being held public meetings, di vine services and huge open ban quets at all of which the theme of Brotherhood will be the central subject. In our schools and colleges, chur ches and clubs, there are being presented special talks, playlets and pageants, musical programs from the several faiths, motion pic tures of film-strips, all portraying in one way or another the funda mental truth that we are all living together as American citizens; 'that this Nation belongs to no one group; that “one hand washes the other”; we all rise or fall togeth er! Panel Discussions with repres entatives of the three major faiths in America, the Protestant, Catho lic and Jewish, often with a Negro added for an interracial balance, are presenting points of interest and information to those in public assembly. Frequently the subject is: “Brotherhood-Pattern for Peace or perhaps, “BROTHERHOOD BELIEVE IT, LIVE IT, SUPPORT IT”. Another one, “PUT UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY!” Clerical as well as lay leaders are being used for such presentations, women as well as men, older ones who have lived too realistically, young people who are still living idealistically. Their message is: examine your own prejudices and bigotry. The many millions of theatre-go ers this week are having the call to Brotherhood come through a movie “trailer”, in which well-known ac tors and actresses make their per sonal appeal to live out the demo cratic principles of religious liber ty and of political freedom for all citizens, irrespective of their creed color or social class. Untold millions more will be hearing some of their favorite stage and screen stars talking to them over the radio, once again asking them to grant unto all oth ers the very same rights and priv ileges which they themselves wish to enjoy in America. An example of such a COMMUN ITY MEETING will be that being held at the Joslyn Memorial on Sunday evening, February 23rd at at 7:30 p- m. Lay leaders of the three religious groups and of the black people, speaking then, will be Dick McCann of Radio Station KON, Tom Sheehan and Jack Mer er, both attorneys, and Dr. Aaron McMillan. The last one named al though a native Omahan, has long been a medical missionary serving the Negroes of Africa. Special mua ical features will be rendered by The Imperialists. All are invited to attend and grain the inspiration of an AMERICAN BROTHER HOOD. NEWS AND VIEWS OF CENTRAL HI" -(By Barbara Edwards, Staff Columnist) TO PERFORM ON ROAD SHOW Lois Brown, '47 and a trio of Evelyn Brashears, Ezra Young, and Archie Mae Young. Others who tried out for the Road Show were Charlene Dudley, playing Warsaw Concerto, and Barbara Edwards, playing Grieg’s Concerto.
