There Is an old saying tTiat a
Jack of all trades is' Master of
none. However, I think an excep
tion can be made to a new furnace
which has been called to my atten
tion, the particular virtue of which
is that it is a “Jack of all fuels,
and Master of each.”
By eliminating the old-style fur
nace radiator and enlarging the
combustion chamber, this furnace
introduce^ some new wrinkles in
combustion which greatly increases
the heat radiating area. An upper
carburetor is employed, together
with a baffle known as a “Fuel
Saver,” with the combination re
sulting In a better mixing of air
with the fuel gases, and creating
an action described as “whirlpool
combustion.”
The net result is that the fur
nace is of ideal design for the
burning of practically all fuels. In
other words, it can be said to be
an all-purpose heating plant.
All of whichr makes sense to me,
for while it may be an advantage
to heat with oil or gas at the pres
ent time, there may well come •
period „when for economic reasons
the need arises for reverting to
coal heat. A furnace that is equal
ly adaptable to aH types of feel
means that one is free to chartgfc
as advantage dictates without any
loss or impairment of the original
heating investment. When it is
considered that one’s beating pterft
represents about 4% of the total
cost of a home, anything that can
make such a major investment
flexible to conform with changing
fuel conditions is certainly worthy
of one’s consideration. '
