Better not pin your hopes on this man. He isn’t willing to meet the situation squarely and his refusing to see you is just his way of backing out. X C—While my husband was in service I took it on myself to buy a home for us. We have three children. The oldest is not his. Now since he has been discharged he seems to think I should give him the house. He’s a silly man, is just plain dumb and gets on my nerves. Please tell me what to do. Ans.. The holdings of husband and wfe should be considered as joint property. If it would soothe his fellings any, have his name put on the deed along with your own. After all, it was the money that he allotted you and the chil dren that made it possible for you to buy the place. If this wrang ling doesn't stop, it will wreck your marriage. Worried—I have been going with this boy for a number of years and he always said that he loved me. We’ve quit and gone back numbers of times but all of a sudden he stopped coming and when he did come back, mother hurt his feelings and he hasn’t been back again. What must I do? Ans. .If it is impossible for you to get along for any period of time why start over again ? It stands to reason that if either of you had cared very much, you would have been able to overlook the faults of the other. Erase this faded memory from your mind and make an effort to meet other desirable young friends. C M—I was a happy-go-lucky person, wasn't interested in any one man, had lots of friends but cared for none until he came by. I really love him and he caused me many heart aches and pains and seems to have ruined my fu ture plans as far as anyone else is concerned. Seems that we both are the hafd hearted kind and have much in common. When I’m with him life is complete. He is a sparkling gem in my path if I only could make him understand. If I can’t, I will put miles be tween us. help me. Ans.. He’s sufficiently interested to keep dating you which is proof that he enjoys your company. He is not ready to settle down to marriage right now and you real ly should avoid getting too seri ous. If you display too much in terest it may put a damper on hxs feelings. Give him something to worry about. A little competition always spurs interest if it is done in a mild sort of way. B N C—Must I leave the man I am with since he did not keep his promise. SUCCESSIVE PLANTINGS MEANS MORE FOOD FROM HOME GARDENS Home gard» ncr3 are urged to plant successive croos with an eye to growing ana j -reserving as much produce as possible. This appeal to gardeners was made by Paul C. Stark, director of the Na tional Garden Program, following t designation by tre Department of Agriculture of July 15 to 22 as National Home Food Preservation Week. In announcing the food preser vation week, Secretary of Agricul ture Anderson asked homemakers for a repeat performance of their war food preservation record. He emphasized that national obser vance of the Week will serve as the beginning of intensive food preservation efforts throughout the summer and fall months. Whle the need for home gar dens stems principally from the world wide food needs, Mr. Stark said, they have become increas ingly important from the stand point of the individual family budget when all or a big part of the supply of vegetables and the fruts come from home gardens. Wartime experience has shown that families with home gardens are more likely to preserve food at home for later use. By increas ing the number of home gardens now, giving gardens good sum mer care, by keeping all gardens producing throughout the grow ing season, by planting for late summer and fall gardens, and by using Garden and Home Food Preservation Centers, the biggest home food preservation program in our history bill be possible. And there is plenty of time for late starters to get in a crop that will help fight famine and maintain good diets here at home, said Mr. Stark. Those who. already have gardens should keep on planting successive crops that will continue to produce until frost time. Date vegetables are ideal for preserv ing, canning, and storing for your winter use. In addition to the ec onomy and health benefits from home gardens, Mr. Stark stressed the part home garden produce can take in helping to maintain a nu tritious and varied diet. Just knowing that the Gay White Way, theatres and nightclubs are there if they want them seems to suffice, whether they ever set foot in them or not. | The humble thousands who service the city for its visitors, set the stage, I shift the scenes, tend and polish the glitter and glamor — live out their lives quietly as any citizen of Ko komo, Indiana. The haughty, bespangled doormen of the Stork Club and the Waldorf, I the stiffly starched servitors of the ^ Biltmose and Ritz, shed their swank with their uniforms after work, an', subway home to wives and kids in the suburbs. Wisecracking taxi drivers garage their hacks at the end of their tours and become staid, home-loving fam ily men who sing hymns in church: many a hot-spot strip-teaser hurries home after her act to spend the rest of the night darning hubby’s socks and shirts. i New York for New Yorkers can be as quiet and conventional as Biloxi or Butte.
