THE NEW 1946 READINGS
ARE NOW READY
C. B. W—I am a mother 28 of
3 children. I have been married to
thin man 3 years that I thought
would make my children a good
father. Before my children came
to live with us, we got along fine.
But now, he seems to resent them
because he gets nervous at any
little noise they make- I know my
children worry him but am I to
let them go? What am I to do?
We are buying property tigether
and I work and help out. Should
11 remain on with him or move and
take my children and make ano
ther home?
Ans: Your husband doesn’t re
sent the children but the sudden- |
ess of acquiring three energetic1
children has made it difficult for
him to adjust himself entirely in
this short time. It will be necess
ary for you to keep your young
sters under firm control and to
teach them to appreciate his care
and to respect his privacy—never
overstepping their bounds to the
extent of worrying and annoying
him when he comes in from work.
If you instill upon them these few
rules of good behavior in his pre
sence, he will grow to love them
as his own. A separation is cer
tainly not in order.
M. I. H.—Please let us hear
from you in the Column. I am
married and I plan to take up a I
course in beauty culture and my
husband is making plans to take
a course in barbering. We hope
to open a shop of our own in the
future. Give us some advice.
Ans: Couples who pull togeth
er and map out a program of act
ion for the future are sure to get
ahead. Both of you know what it
is you want to do and are willing
to put forth the effort to learn
the profession and you should do

that I should be allowed to he “
dates. Since my parents died my
grandmother has Deen living v.... . j
us. I am allowed to correspond
with as many boys as I piease
but that is as far as everything
goes. I can invite them to my
parties also. How can I make her
see the olden days are gone and
that these are modern times?
0
Ans: Grandmother knows that
dates, late hours and school work
don’t mix very well. She has no
objection to your being in com
pany with boys on special occa
sions but she stands firm to the
belief that a girl should be given
free rein until she is out of high

a girl should limit her dating to
not more than three nights per
week. Your social life wil expand
more to your liking this summer.

not upon which Party will give

Mr. Adams states that since

will be awarded optionally at the
winner’s choice as to whether
they would prefer a fight ticket to
the Joe Louis Billy Conn heavy
weight Championship fight or a.
$100 tuition award to the college
already being attended or the
college to be attended.
More than 5000 women have
filed applications to become con
testants in the National Sewing
Contest. A larger proportion of
the enrollees are college Home
Economic Students- Neil Scott
Associates after a careful check,
among Newspapers and student
authorities ascertained that many
of the students after winning are
not able to take the long trip to
the fight and would be benefitte<J
more if the $100 was made avail
able to cover school expenses.
This accounts for the Neil Scott
Organizations establishment of
the Optional Scholarship awards.
Taking into consideration at the
same time that many non college
women who have entered the con
test may consider it disadvanta
geous to travel to the fight, the
Neil Scott Organization is pre
pared to award them the $100 in
cash, also.
