In just one landing operation against a Jap-held strong.

telephones, hundreds of switchboards, and 5 million feet of

Even though the war in Europe is over, our forces in the

communications equipment. That's why there isn't enough
to go around here at home.
We feel sure you understand that any delay in supply,

These Magic Cookies, an Iced Drink
A Friendly Game Spell Hot Day Delight
COOKIES and.lemonade spell cool
delight on a hot day. And even
if your sugar canister is empty, you
can treat with a big batch of crispy,
crunchy cookies if you make them
of sweetened condensed milk. This
smooth blend of fresh, whole milk
and sugar can be whisked into de
licious cookies in jig time without
extra suger, and without shorten
ing, eggs or sugar. The recipe is
magically failure-proof and you can
be sure of an appetizing triumph
jvery time.
They make wonderful informal
refreshments. If you ask neighbors
n on a hot evening for a friendly
game like Camelot, Rook, or Mon
-*-'oly, you can do a last-minute job
< the cookie baking, or you can

t rgencies. All you need, besides
t..e sweetened condensed milk, is
peanut butter r.d any one of these
five additions: nuts, raisins, corn
fiakes, bran Jakes or dates. Just mix
the three ingredients, drop the bat
ter in spoonfuls on a greased cookie
sheet, and bake.
Lack of sugar needn’t mean un
sweetened lemonade, either. If sweet
oranges are available, they help the
sweetening. Strained honey or syrup
may be used. And a spoonful of
orange marmalade stirred into each
