Mr. and Mrs. Percy Hall of 2230 Franklin Plaza, have an infant son two months old. It was named after his uncle, who is in the Army in England. Mr. Hall is working on the Union Pacific as a waiter. He has been with the company about three years and is pleased with his job. i Mr. J. W. King has been sick, but is able to be up. Mrs. King was confined to her bed. She was taken sick last night and was com pelled to call the doctor the next day. Doctor Hawkins is the at tending physician. Mrs. Mazie Womack of 2520 Seward St., reports that Pvt. Paul Womack is stationed in Germany the last letter we received from was in the battle of Ruhr, battle of the Rhine and battle of Ger many. He is now with the Ninth Army. Rev. E. Z. McDonald of 918 No. 27th, is still confined to his bed, but says he still retains his strength. He seems to be holding his own very well. His condition seems to be improved. We hope for him much success and a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Lee of 1914 No. 28th St., had an extensive travel and Mrs. Lee says she has never enjoyed a trip as much as she did this one. They went to Dallas, Tex., also Fort Worth and other points. There was entertainments of a'l kinds. We met a jolly crowd ever day, which was a great pleasure. We nope for another such trip. — Mrs. M. Hunter of 941 No. 27th St., has been confined to her bed since Friday. She came in from the hospital. She says she is improv-1 ing slowly and hopes to be up in a few days. She is really thankful ' for the progress she has made. Mrs. Campbell of 929 No. 27th St., has a lovely family. She has a baby seven months old, and th* oldest is three years old. Paul Orduna of 2702 Maple St., left for the Army last month. We wish him good luck, and hope he I will return soon. Mr. Payton Crossley of 947 No. j 27th St., has the prettiest garden and when the reporter passed he was planting tomatoes. Mr. Cross ley says he likes all kinds of veg etables. Mr. Crossley has eight in the family, four boys and four girls. One boy is in the Coast Guard, and one is in the Navy. Mrs. Lula Woods of 1207 No. 27th St., is a member of Pleasant Green Church. We have a won derful pastor, and we have good services all the time. You will en joy our services. Come out you are always welcome. M r. Marion Payne of 2610 Charles St., is painting his fence. Mr. Payne owns his own home and is doing Tits decorating. Mr. Payne has one in the family, and that is his wife. They live like two birds in a nest. Mrs. George Johnson of 2110 ■ Grace St., had an indoor picnic in her home last Sunday, and had as her house guest Mrs. Cecil H. Williams. They entertained about thirty in all, and everyone had a lovely time. Mr. and Mrs. John son has two boys. Mr. Johnson works for the Union Transfer Co. Mrs. Charles Trimble of 2060 Florence Blvd., has a real nice home. When the reporter called Mr. Trimble w^s out of the city on business, and Mrs. Trimble was busy ironing, and the boy was in school. She says her garden is fine, but it rains too much and too regular. Mrs. Rosalee Reed of 2037 No. 21st St., has lived in Omaha for 28 years. She lived in Battle Creek, Michigan, before coming to Om and has served with honor. Mr. McIntosh reports that the church is all clear of debt and everything is moving along smoothly and everyone seems to be well pleased. Mrs. James Wright of 2606 Seward St., after visiting her hus band in the Army, has returned and has a beautiful baby girl. She will remain in Omaha for a while with her mother who is working at the Omaha Steel works. They are great lovers of the Guide. The reporter stopped at 1708 N. 24th St., known at the Stream line Barber Shop owned by Mr. Taylor and Dr. Wesley Jones Step ped in and pulled off his coat. I thought Dr. was preparing to fight and when I looked again Dr. was having his hair cut and a shave. Dr. was stepping high and and all smiles. Mrs. McNeil of 2422 Caldwell, reports that her son, Timothy Mc Neil left for the Army last Fri day, June 8th. Mrs. McNeil says she don’t know where he will land, but he will call her from Leaven worth, Kansas. Mrs. Nelson of 2614 Blondo St., has a nice home and has lived in Omaha about 36 years, and has lived at the above address for about seven years. When the re porter passed she was having her yard cut. She says the grass grows so fast she can hardly keep it down; however I shall continue to cut and keep on cutting. Mrs. Stella Cooper of 2102 No. 28th Ave., has a little baby boy named Lenord L. Cooper. Mrs. Cooper is the mother of five chil dren, four boys and one girl, Leonard is eleven days old. Two of the children are in school. Mrs. Curtwright of 2519 Blondo St., has one child and she is go ing to summer school. Mrs. Curt wright says she thinks it is a good idea to keep children in school lather than to have them on street corners, and talking and doing mischief. Mrs. Curtwright is always busy caring for some ones hear. Mr. J. Henderson of 3002 Grant St., has two children both boys. Mr. Henderson was in the Army for eleven, months. He is now home with his family after being honorably discharged. He is now on the Police force in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Cole of 2916 Grant St., has a nice little home, and when the reporter passed he dis covered Mr. Cole has about 185 chickens and they look fine. Mr. Cole purchased his home about seven months ago, and has made a lot of improvements on it. It looks like a different place. _l_ Mr. and Mrs. Gaston of 2109 No. 28th Ave., seems to be very busy these days painting their porch. Mr. Gaston has three boys, two in the Army. One in the Pa cific and one in Germany, and the other one at home. Mr. Gaston has a comfortable home and says he is well satisfied. Mr. Irvin of 2619 Patrick Ave., reports that some one stole 19 of his chicken one night about ' ten days ago. Mr. Irvin had a very nice lot of chickens. You had better lock your fowl house, be cause the theives are busy. Mr. and Mrs. Smith of 25121 Patrick Ave., has a family of five. One girl and four boys. Mr. Smith has just returned from New Guinea, where he served 23 months. Mr. Smith was very suc cessful while in the service, he never was wounded. He returned J with a rash on his arm. He is now home with his family. Mrs. Blanche Wright of 1906 No. 28th Ave., is confined to her bed and has been for two days, but at this writing she seems to be improving, and hopes to be well soon. Lets us hope. Dr. Wig gins is the attending physician. Mr. Alexander Young of 2518 Blondo St., who came here from a hospital in Oakland, Calif., had not seen his mother in 46 years. During this time he had lived in the Philippine Islands. He left the Philippine Islands on the 15th of April, and landed in this coun try the 7th of June. Mr. Young says he likes all of the Countries that he has visited. Mr. Young does’nt know whether he will stay here or not, he is undecided. Mrs. Holley of 2626 Seward St., reports that she went fishing and caught nothing but a cold. Mrs. Holley was very much amused and says she will try for another catch. She says there is a lot of fun in fishing. Mrs. Stewart of 2636 Hamilton St., gave a dinner June 10th in honor of her son, Pfc. Willard Hale. Mr. Hale is in the Marines i and is stationed at Camp Lejine | Worth Carolina. He left Saturday for camp. Mr. and Mrs. Austin of 2624 Charles St., formerly on Hamilton, but have purchased the home at 2426 Charles. It is a beautiful home. They have two daughters, one married and en“ single. Mr. Grace, owner of the grocery at 1413 No. 27th St., says busi ness seems to be doing nicely and it is getting better all the time. [ He has a nice stock of groceries. You are always welcome. Mr. and Mrs. Dozier of 956 No. 27th was sitting on the porch very contented. They were talking about the church and other matters. Mr. Dozier is a great admirer of the Omaha Guide. Mrs. Dozier says she can’t do without it. She has renewed her subscription. Mr. Mclntosch of 120 So. 31st Ave., has been a Deacon of the Zion Baptist Church for 16 years, LOCAL NOTES LOCAL NEWS Mr. ami Mrs. Leroy Richardson of 2633 Patrick Ave., has just moved here from Batrogh. La. They have been in town only three weeks. Mrs. Richardson says she likes Omaha very much. They have two girls. Mr. Richardson is work ing at the Bomber Plant, while Mrs. Richardson takes care of the children and home. Mr. D. F. Roache of 2106 No. 27th Ave., has a family of two just he and Mrs. Roache. The two grandchildren stays with them while the mother works. Mr. Roache was dong some work on his basement windows, and says, to his surprise it cost him $5.75. He says he cannot keep any money. Mrs. Ira Coleman of 2110 No. 27th Ave., says she is preparing to move to St. Joseph, Mo., to live. When the reporter called on Mrs. Coleman she was painting a rocking chair. Mrs. Coleman is a great painter. She has a yard full of chickens and ducks. The ducks are really beautiful. We hope Mrs. Coleman much success when she reaches Missouri. Mr. Wesley Montgomery of 2425 Franklin St., is home from Canada where he spent two weeks. He reports that he admires Can ada very much and expects to go back some day.
