Iowa HERE ARE THE FACTS -^ ■" % STRIPPED OF THE SMOKE SCREEN OF CONFUSION CREATED BY LAWSUITS AND MIS-STATEMENTS, THIS IS ALL THERE IS TO THE POWER CONTROVERSY The eastern holding company which owned Nebraska Power Company was ordered by the Securities and Exchange Commission to dissolve. That meant a change in the ownership of the Nebraska Power Company seemed evident. To prevent ownership and control going to outsiders, a group of loyal citizens interested in the welfare of the people of Omaha, organized a non-profit cor poration and bought the common stock of the Power Company under pledge to turn it over to a public agency for the benefit of the people. The non-profit corporation paid the same base price as previously offered on three occasions: A. By Consumers Public Power District of Columbus in May, B. By Mayor Butler’s Committee headed by W. J. Coad in C. By Peoples Power Commission in 1943 (on two seaprate occasions). 4. The Loup River Power District borrowed the funds required by non-profit to buy the stock. This money was then deposited with the non-profit corpo ration and with it they bought the common stock. Loup does not own the Nebraska Power Company. Loup does not fix the rates. The contract for the purchase of power from Loup can be cancelled, and will be as soon as the transfer to a Public Agency is completed. 5- HERE IS THE RESULT. THE COMPANY WILL SOON BE OWNED BY THE PEOPLE. PUBLIC OWNERSHIP WILL SAVE THREE MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR. THIS SAVING CAN BE USED TOWARDS PAYING OFF THE EN TIRE INDEBTEDNESS AND TO REDUCE YOUR ELECTRIC RATES OMAHA ELECTRIC COMMITTEE, Inc.
