need to do a daily job of educating

this problem satisfactorily.
He advocated that the work of
the fair employment practice com
mittee should be continued, but not
under a separate bureau. It should
be a part of the Labor department,
he thought.
If no other method of doing
away with the poll tax as a re
quirement to vote could be found,
he said he would favor an amend
ment to the constitution to do away
with it. He also favors any legis
lation that would do away with
lynchings.
Congressman Buffet said, ‘‘I
fixmly believe that the colored
members of the armed forces should
be allowed to do their full part
in helping to win the war and not
just the clean-up work.”
He has been made disturbed by
the fact that we are ti-ying to
bring justice to people in other j
lands when justice is not accorded
all of our own people.
The work of the fair employ
ment practice committee has his
approval and he believes that any
other operations than fair employ
ment practice would be tragic.
Any constitutional amendment
that would rid us of the poll tax
has his support as does any legis
lation that would do away with
lynchings.
