Mr. Tony Taylor, Dies
Funeral services were held Tuesday
afternoon for Mr, Tony Taylor from
The Thomas Funeral Home, with
Rev. W. S. Metcalf officiating.
Mr. Taylor, who died at his home,
933 North 25th Street, Saturday even
ing. was formerly a paving contractor
in Atchinson, Kansas, where his body
was forwarded for services and bur
ial in the family plot.
Mr. Taylor who was a member of
St. Johns AME. Church was a resi
dent of Omaha for the past 22 years.
He is survived by two daughters,
Mrs. Gertrude B. Kinney and Mrs.
Minerva Greenfield, both of Omaha.

Divorced
Chicago, Illinois, (for PPNS) —
Arthur W. Sewell, reputed world's
richest Negro boy, was sued for div
orce in Circuit Court here, on Mon
day, May 1st, by his wife, Mrs. Paul
ine Sewell. The couple was married
in June 1938 and according to Mrs.
Sewell, she charges deseretion since
February 1942. Satisfaction of set
tlement was made whereupon she will
receive 400 a month, whether married
or single and the $50,000 Sewell
mansion on the outskirts of town.
The husband and brother Sgt. John
Sewell own considerable valuable oil
properties in Oklahoma and Arkan
sas and statistical records say they
are the world's richest Negro boys.

5 cups sifted cake 1 cup fortified
flour margarine
4 tsps. baking 4 cups sugar
powder tbs. vanilla
*/4 tsp. salt 2 cups milk
10 egg whites
Sift flour, baking powder and salt.
Cream margarine until soft and
smooth, gradually add sugar, cream
ing until very fluffy; add vanilla. Add
flour alternately with milk, beating
until smooth after each addition; fold
in the stiffly beaten egg whites. Turn
into 3 greased layer pans of different
sizes (12 inch pan. 9 inch pan, 6 inch
pan), filling each about % full. Bake
in moderate oven (350° F ) 30 to 40
minutes. Cool, put layers together with

1% cups sugar 2 egg whites
M cup water Dash of salt
1 tbs light corn 1 tsp. vanilla
syrup
Stir sugar, water and corn syrup In
saucepan over low heat until sugar is
dissolved, boil, covered," about 3 min
utes. then boil, uncovered and without
stirring, until a small amount of
syrup forms a soft ball when dropped
into cold water If candy thermom
eter is used, cook to 238°-240° F Re
move syrup from heat; quickly beat
egg whiles until stiff, then pour syrup
in fine stream over egg whites, beat
ing constantly; add salt and flavoring,
continue beating until frosting is cool
and of proper consistency to spread.
On a rainy or moist day. boil syrup
to higher temperature. If frosting
hardens before spreading, beat in a
few drops of hot water. Spread be
tween the three layers, putting cake
together. Then make a second batch
of this same frosting, covering outside
of cake. Cool and set before adding
decorations.
