ILLINOIS REPUBLICAN
CONGRESSMEN SOLIDLY
FOR HIS DISMISSAL ..
New York, N. Y.—The recent
vote of 66 northern and border |
state Congressmen backing the at-'
tempted ouster of William Pickeng .
Treasury Department employe and
Dies target, prompted the NAACP
this week to warn Negro voters
throughout the country to keep a
close check on the records of their
representatives and remember
those records when the represents-1
fives come up for reelection. The
NAACP pointed out that in the
total of 136 votes against Pickens,
50 of the 66 cast by the northern
and border Congressmen were Re
publican votes.

In a protest sent to the .House
of Representatives before the fin j
al vote of 267 against 136 which
brought about the reinstatement,
the NAACP outlined the career of
Mr. Pickens who since his gradu
ation from Yale in 1904ahad been <
zealous in the fight for the rights
of Negroes and other minorities.
For 21 years he was an executive
officer in the NAACP.
“Mr. Pickens and other officials
are being persecuted on false and
malicious charges of un-American
activity, without fair or competent
investigation, and without opport
unity to be heard,” the NAACP
said. “The conduct of the men re
sponsible for this attack would be
more becoming to agents of the
Gestapo than it is to those acting
in the name of the name of the A
merican Congress.”

HOUSE OF WORSHIP
OF A WORLD FAITH
The exterior ornamentation of
the Baha'i Temple at Wilmette. Il
linois,—an edifice dedicated to the
oneness of mankind—reaches com
pletion this month with the place
ment of ,°.(ps whijh circle <cc
building:.
Because of its unique architect
ural construction and singular
beauty the Baha’i Temple has been
admired by thousands of visitors
each year since the ornamentation
of the dome began. Some of these
visitors, including architectural
engineers, have come from far
p ints of the globe.
The significance of the Temple,
important as it is to the Bahai’s,
is also an item of public interest
As a symbol and beacon light for a
united humanity it is in this day
a tremendous challenge to the
thoughts, prayers and actions of a
world divided by religious, racial,
national and class prejudices.
Although the first Baha’i Temple !
was built in southern Russia, the
Temple at Wilmette, in the heart
of North America, has a special
significance which is made clear in
a pamphlet the organization has
just issued.

Girls, does an out-dated TABOO
mean you don’t know this help?
Very tew women cling to the old
fashioned notion trat certain inti
mate facts form a forbidden topic
of conversation. That’s why many
women who have suffered the
cramp-like agony and nervous
strain of periodic, functional dis
tress at least know about CARDUI.
Try CARDUI, which may help in
one of two ways: (1) as a tonic, it
may pep up appetite, aid digestion,
and thus help build up energy for
the "time” to come; (2) started 3
days before the time, and taken as
directed, it may aid in relieving
purely functional, periodic paia.
Women have praised CAHDUl’s
help for 62 years. Try it!
