From the entertainment world comes
the word that Random Harvest is the
picture that everyone is taking to heart.
★ * * *
A harvest of praise is pouring in for this
"Hall of Fame” picture, now in its
fifth week at the Radio City Music
Hall and still going strong. It’s even
forecast that Random Harvest will rival
Mrs. Miniver and the ten-week record
set by that famous picture at this
famous motion picture house.
Ronald Colman and Greer Garson are
the two bright lights around which a
poignant and tender love story centers.
* * * *
In fact it’s ihe story of love-time in
war-time for all-time!
★ ★ * *
James Hilton, author of Goodbye,
Mr. Chips is likewise author of Random
Harvest. So it is no random circumstance
that Random Harvest is a great story.
* ★ * ★
And no random circumstance that this
best-seller has been screened by Metro
Goldwyn-Mayer. The Hilton-MGM
combination works wonders—to every
one’s advantage—especially yours.
* ★ ★ ★
Leo is purring like a well-pleased catl
* * * *
You'll purr, too, when you see Random
Harvest!
★ * * *
Everybody happy?
* ★ * *
We think everyone
in America should ^
be happy. Especially
for being an Ameri
can! And sharing in
the good things this
country has to offer!

When the aluminum plant wij

turn over nearly four million dol

part of its operation for several
days which would have meant a de

been enough aluminum to build
scores of bombers and other vital
war materials.
Power company officials pointol

SOVIETS SHOVE BACK NAZIS IN DON AREA
RUSSIA—Red infantry fighters attack Nazis in the Don arch, west of Stalingrad. Latest reports
say that the Soviets are developing their gains in the Surovikino area, 90 miles west of Stalingrad
after punishing tank battles. Although many Nazi troop and transport planes still manage to pene-j
trate the area, the number is being lessened. J

WASHINGTON, D. C.—When the 21,936-ton President Coolidge (above) went down after striking a

were lost, thanks to the efficient rescue operations of the Navy’s accompanying craft. The liner was
apparently enroute to American South Pacific bases with men and equipment when she hit the mine.

** CORN CHAMP/
BLOOMINGTON, ILL. — Paul H.’
Peabody, Christian County farmer
has set a new world’s corn yield
record of 191.64 bushels per acre
in the Illinois state-sponsored an
nual 10-acre yield contest. The
new com king did it with a combi
nation of good farming, Funk’s
“G” Hybrids and “some darn good
luck.” Dr. J. R. Holbert, nationally
known com breeder, stated that
Peabody’s feat would have been ut
terly impossible with the Hybrid
seed generally in use no longer
than five years ago.

Here's good news for the people of the U. S. A.

doubt about what to take this winter for the com

. WAR GOES ON IN THE SOLOMONS
War goes on in the Solomons with planes, warships and troops of botl
sides fighting every day. Sometimes fleets clash in major nava
conflicts, but for the most part it is troop battles on Guadalcana
and raids on enemy bases by our big bombers that keep this vita
front from Rabaul to Henderson Field alive with action.
It used to be TABOO for girls
to discuss this kind of help
Many a girl has suffered from
cramp-like pain and other distresses
due only to periodic functional
causes simply because that was a
subject people didn’t talk about.
Nowadays .thousands of women
rely on the 2-way help of CARDL'I.
Started 3 days before the time and
taken as directed, CARDTJI should
help relieve purely functional peri
odic pain. Used as a tonic, it often,
perks up appetite, increases the
flow of gastric juices, thus aiding
digestion and thereby helping to
build up strength and resistance
for the time it's most needed.
CARDUI may help you. A t2
year record says it’s worth a trial.
