You can not suddenly shear away the multi tude of accustomed luxuries and semi-luxuries without impairment of spirit. .. and here is where man agement steps into the role of morale stimulator! People can do with less automo bile driving but they do want the many little things that help give cheer and comfort. Cosmetics man ufacturers quickly devised new and substitute materials to permit a ! continuing supply of the cherished I beauty items threatened by a scar city of ingredients and metal for containers. Food concerns, household appli ance makers, candy manufacturers, brewers and other important con sumer goods groups are constantly finding new ways and new tech niques to maintain a high level of production in the face of restrictions and to keep the products flowing into consumer channels. In the aggregate they provide a lift to morale and good morale is needed to "keep the people pitching." Consumers may not get every thing they want . . . nor may they be able to obtam as much of any particular item as they desire . containers and wrappers mav not be as fancy, but there will be no lack of most of the little luxuries that help give a lift to life.
