SOCIAL NOTES Bend an ear, Girls . . . we’re on the pan we’ev just began to realize the scarceness of nvl n^n. Or used-to-be packed-avenue is fading out - - - Uncle Sam is taking the best of everything-and looking at the situation: when he has fin ished we are gonna wake up “men lesser.” Oil! unhappy day. It’s good to talk to you hen cats (that’s left) and hep chics (that’s heartb okrin) once again. It’s heen quite awhile since we chatted to gether. Lots to gab about Who knows? Your cat might be in that number of “goners”. We received a very “hep” letter from that Jitterbug, Oliver Hodge, who is now a Private in Alabama. “Chuck the Duck” who had a hun d'-ied dollar farewell party in the Blue House a couple of weeks ago, left Wednesday. Poor Maggie—Un cle Sam takes all rhe gets. A_d have you missed Benny Gray—We did— he’s also in Alabama. A. D. Meeham left with the Saturday group. If we take un tima to say goodby to all of the boys that’s gone and going we won’t have time to gab. So-Down Choc. Avenue - - - Cruzing in a fine maroon ear with Mr. B. G.-we spotted Nina Pearl Shaw—well hepped chic from Kansas City formerly of Dal las, Tex., visiting her cousins, Char lott .Dorothy and Marion Lawson. E. D. should have heard her tell D. P. that she was a nurse. W. D. P. said, “That’s fine—I’m a doc tor!” So naturally a nurse and doctor knows what to talk about. To our great surprise we was glad to see the former Betty Jean Butler, now Mrs. Denafin Mackey, j back from California—She looked I like someone out of Hollywood’s latest vogue. She’s drapped to a solid peg. Dig those fine fashions she brought back for Omaha to gaze at. Meanwhile John Booth former Omahan now living in Chicago, sent for his sister, Alberta. She left the gay avenue Sunday to get to that Windy City Chika. Don’t worry about “Jeff” the soda boy at the Grant Street Drug Store. Bob Floyd picks up on his da’ly chores and Jeff left or is supposed to be in Oklahoma City. Across from the Tuxedo— Thanks to the new tamale joint— a' last the old name has been wiped off the window end forgotten about and once aga'n the place is open for ’ u iness. Oh! Hapny Day. With a litle cooperation that new soldier recreation place can really got to be famous. Let’s not over look it. Chics. Handsome Joe Baymon, frem Fort Worth. Tex., had visiting h;m last week, his sister. She must have had a great time from what I can hear from these cats. Lot’s rot. fo get to (race) drive slov.'ly to Bennintgon, Netr., Sun 'nv :o hat picnic no one ever miss. You can bet—everyone that goes, always have a “high” time. HT“if,e,;-g a hit: but we wonder if Lola W'lis has really given Mac up for “Mitch.” If so, what’s Flor ence going to do whon she gets back. Dog Mack’s car is being seen qui‘e frequently on 27th Ave and Grant. What’s it to us? We’re just meddeling. Does Gene Harrison’s being with Dorthea Smith mean anything or is it just—that dear old friendship. Maybe Lauerne and Mac could tell us? No! Does Spencer Jacobs really mean to take over when C. W. leaves for the army or was he just sounding. Is “Booghery” actually going with two chics in Omaha when he has one steady back in Minnesota? It’s a rumor? O. K. Is Russel Rudd really in love with Evelyn or is there a chic (Doris Ware) in Minnesota that keeps , him buying train tickets. L Joe Wright has at last really put Bertha D. in his plain friendship book of used to be’s and is now buzzing his happy words to the new chic from Oklahoma, who is here to attend University of Omaha this fall. Thee lick. Compliments Heard: A certain chic told me about a week ago that she was liking George Terrell awfully well, her name is G. B. A certain chic said: That Ray mond from Minnesota was very cute—he looks like Preston Love. (She’s kinda worried about why he ' likes to sit on Neomi Downs porch every single day.) A studd was complimenting Doris Pittiman and Bryce D’s. ability to look so fine in their clothes. That packing house picnic at Elmwood Park, Tuesday night, was 1 really the lick! Wasn’t it Jesse | McClenton! | Knowing everyone will be seeing i Hines the 20th and Hunter’s cats the 24th of this month. Speaking of music That Bicycle Bounce seems to be i all ree. Knock Me a Kiss by Er skin Hawkins is also reet. Earl Hines will also have some more fine pieces. Corrinne Seay who left to visit her sister, Claudia, in Cleveland,' Ohio, will reiurn shortly with j I Claudia to once again rejoin old1 I friends alo - g Bronzville. I _ According to the Sunday school ! picnic Aldalphia K. is keeping Kap pell Curtis from getting lonesome for C. S. On 24th and Lake Street we spotted and gazed upon Joe Lam ■ berth, former Omahan wno now : lives in California. Maybe he was reporting to Local Draft Board. No doubt! I - 1 That’s all this week—Yore girls i on the street. _ Mrs. C. Payne of New London, Conn., was guest of Mrs. .Ardina Watson, 2718 No. 28 Ave., last week. Mrs. Wa'son had a lovely ! breakfast party in honor of Mrs. i Payne and Mrs. McFermer of Chi j cago, 111., guest of Mrs. Venus Pace.
