CELEBRATES 40th WEDDING
ANNIVERSARY
Tuesday evening, Sept. 30th at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Harris, 2424 Caldwell St, was the
scene of a gala event and was
beautifully decorated with gorg
eous flowers. The occasion being
the celebration of their 40th wedd
ing anniversary.

While strolling casually down
the main drag with a chic ahd a
young hep cat, we sudenly heard
taps being played to the accom
paniment of the popular ballad of
the day “Till Reville”. They were
played in a manner so clear and
distinctive, I shall never forget it.
To my surprise it was Von Richard
Trimble. Here is a lad, refined in
every respect, and plays trumpet
in the most artistic style ever
heard. Rather than say he is fol
lowing in the footsteps of Erskine
Hawkins.... I think it would be
more justifying to say he is follow
ing in the steps of Harry James
(The sweet and lovely style) To
prove to me and several others
that he really knows how to play
a sweet trumpet, he demonstrated
with “Righty Right”. To you
Von Richard I drink a toast, wish
ing you all the greatness of suc
cess known in our world of Music.
And as one of our friend I shall

Mr. Harris the popular grocery
iman of South Omaha left Satur
day morning for a weeks vacation
in Oklahoma where he will visit
relatives in Tulsa and Muskogee,
making the trip with Mr. Harris
is his father-in law, Mr. L. M, Par
ker.
Mr. Harris will be back in the
store next Sunday, and during his
absence, work will be carried on by
his staff of workers.

prise to Mr. Richard Goram Sr.

Radio Technical School.

A SHORT SHORT STORY
In a little town not far away a
farmer and his family are trying
to make a living by raising corn
and cattle.
The farmer is as busy as a little
bee, but no one can tell about the
farmer for he goes to bed early at
night and is an early riser. He
feeds the chickens and milks the
cows. Then he hurries to the
fields. He attends to his corn and
cattle.
The cattle graze and grow and
the farmer and his family are hap
py in the little town. As each day
slowly sinks behind the hills.
Wind and rain comes and winter
follows summer and autumn and
the farmer rests through the long
winter nights.
Then comes spring and work
through the days with the cattle
and the corn.

The Willing Workers Club Mt.
Moriah Baptist Church held their
meeting on Tuesday night at the
home of Mrs. Sallie White the
President and Mrs. Lillian King,
a new member, 2516 Maple St.
with a very large attendance. Mrs.
J. E, Lindsay, Vice President, has
charge of the meetings, The pres
ident who met with a misfortune
a few months ago, has been unable
to perform her duty as President.
Rev. Jones was present with some
very interesting remarks. The
Secretary of the club Willie Lee
White, was unable to be present.
She is confined to her bedside at
2630 Blondo St. The Secretary
wishes to express her thanks and
kindness to all those of the club
and church, who have been to vis
it her also the pastor who has
contributed to her. The Helping
Hand Club will meet at the church
Thursday night October 9, 1941.

State sanatorium in N, Carolina,
studying X-ray in the field of tu
berculosis. Dr. Solomon expecas
to return to Omaha about the 1st
of November. Mrs, Solomon will
join him the last part of October.
Miss Claudia Seay, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. Seay, 2892 Maple
St, has left the city, Miss Seay
is in Cleveland, Ohio, staying with
relatives. While there she is p'an
ning to attend college.
On her arrival in Cleveland Miss
Seay went with her relatives on a
motor trip to New York to witness
the Joe Louis fight.
Claudia is a graduate of Tech
nical High school. Her ambition
in life is to be a dietician.
