Bryant at 2722 Binney St. RETURNS TO NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE MissDelia h Rucker, daughter of Mr. Thomas Rucker of 4409 Burt St., who was visiting parents on her vacation from her position as secretary to Mr. Boyd of Nash ville, Tenn., returned to her job in Nashville Thursday August 14. 1941. Miss Rucker was reported being highly entertained by her friends while being in the city. Miss Gertrude Rucker, who also lives in Nashville, will remain with her parents for the time be ing. Moriah Church, met with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Speece, 2019 Lake St. After a month’s vacation all mem bers were happy to get to work a gain. The president Mrs. J. L. Betts, made a report on the “Streamline Flight,” of July 25th given in conjunction with the Will ing Workers Club. Mrs. Betts as president of the Club selling the highest number of tickets was winner of the blue ribbon- On Jul 29th the two clubs were hon ored by the pastor Rev. F. P. Jon es and church with a lawn social, for their successful effort. The president, Mrs. J. L. Betts left the 14th of August for a few weeks vacation in the “sunkist” state of California. Mr. Alex Parker of Hampton Va., was in the city visiting Mrs. Parker’s sister and brother Mrs. Thelma Gorham and Mr. John Da vis with them was Mrs. Ruth, Prest cott and son of Hampton and Ail een Bowen, Burl Bowen, Jr., They enjoyed a wonderful time while here. They were entertained by Mrs. Lula Roundtree, Susie Yancey Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Rolach, Mrs. Josephine Bell. They left going to Chicago to visit Mrs. Parker’s niece AquiUa Bell and Mrs. Sybil King and then motor to Washing ton, D. C. to see her sister and stay (there 3 days with her. Wagner, Mrs. Edwards is the grand daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards, Mrs. Hartfieid mo tored to Des Moines Saturday re turning Sunday a. m. They re ported an enjoyable time. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards were taken on a sight seeing trip by Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Wilson of 2613 Grant St. Sunday p. m. They all left for home Sunday night. They report ed a lovely time. Williams, parents of the bride will have a wedding reception for the bride and groom on Wednesday even ing, Sept. 3, at the Northside Branch YWCA 22nd and Grant St VISITS OMAHA Mrs. Ada Jones and Mrs. Lil lian Houston of Detroit, Michigan; were visitors in Omaha during the Spanish American Convention. The four days of athletic and so cial activities of the Central Stat es Golf Association’s of the An nual championship will long be remembered for their colorful and abundance of pleasure affording activities with unusual settings. The CSGA. program consisted of 14 separate events all of which v/ere huge successes. In addition there were two complimentary af fairs. A country club dance giv en b the Gay Westerners at Rose mere Lodge and a Ladies Lawn Social by the AKA Sorority on the Solomon’s beautiful garden lawn. The largest turnout was on Sun day afternoon at Elmwood Park, where more than 3,000 sport togg ed and sport minded Omahans formed a roving gallery for the 77 contestants. Five hundred sportsmen and ladies gathered at the Dreamland Hall Sunday night to see King Willis Gray and Queen Jean Ter rell present trophies to the win ners. There were 67 out of town cars from Missouri, Kansas, Minnesota and owa, averaging more than 300 visitors to the golf meet. Twenty-fourth Street merchants thought it was a very, very swell tournament too. All events came off on sched ule and without a hitch, except that the momentum of success made some of the events much longer than was anticipated.
