E, Joseph, reporter YOU CAN BE ATTRACTIVE This column is new an<j it will be written each week. I am hop ing that you may receive some very helpful suggestions on, dress, manners, care of body, hair ,etc. Everyone desires to improve or be better looking. In this column, you will find many things of in terest. Most mirrors never say a word—they just suffer in sil ence. Year after year they stare back iat you—the same old face, without remark or complaint. Why impose on your mirror. Look what you do to your looks. You could be a beauty, but you aren t ....You’re average, just passable. Why don’t you make something of yourself. Remember this my friend, practically none is born beautiful. You’ve got to work at being beautiful, all great beauties do. No one is hopeless or plain- • • • only hopelessly lazy. Stop being a defeatist. Look the mirror in, the face,- - analyze your self, study every feature,, .figure out your potentiabilities. There is no hope lessly plain woman ....the only thing “hopeless” about a woman is her attitude, which has fallen into -an abyss of discouragement, which refuses help, encouragement or even hope. Nothing is hope less even defects that a woman or girl may feel are ruining her life. They can be corrected. So please be on the lookout for this column each week. The information received for writing this column is from lead ing authorities. The author of this column is unknown. IM ! DIPLOMAS There were several girls who received diplomas from an eight weeks course at downtown cook ing school. After passing the dif ficult examination, these girls were awarded diplomas. Miss Leona Edwards, Miss Haz el Andrews, Miss Anna Andrews, Miss Jean Gordon, Miss Arlene Gordon. Miss Bertha Davis. The girls also learned various kinds of service, ways of preparing food. They all had a health ex amination and are capable of cooking and preparing and serv ing meals at anytime and place. HEART BREAKER: There seem to be a lot of girls interested in Perry Harris.. cert ain chicks run a temperature ev erytime he is around. Well she bas we all know he’s one. But some of you will have to come off. He can only go with one. Who is Averne Kincaid? TO THE GIRL: To the girl who after another girls fiancee. I understand you have one of your own. Why don’t you go with him?-and leave this girl’s fiance alone. When you fool around with this Chicks fiance, she will give you soma tough competition, and you are I fooling with fire when you fool with her. A child that plays with fire usually gets burned. In this case you will lose the boy you are after and your own also. You won’t be playing second fiddle— you will be left playing nothing. You shall reap what you are sow ing. While you are after her boy friend someone might be after yours. I realize you all are free, single, disengaged, but why not take care and hold on to yours... and keep friends. You’re cornin’ on kid. but you’re coming on wrong. FASHION PARADE I’m knowing all the time you Cats and Chicks noticed. SMITH) The Fontenelle Hotel with the extensive improvements and up to the minute service and top wait ers having their vacations—taking long trips out of town, picking up new ideas of modem service, are ?} 1 ready to go as soon as the 1941 fall business with such good wai ters as Mr. McKinley, Mr. Jones, Mr. Underwood, Mr, Reed, and the [ top room-serviceman, Mr. Hill, Mr Lipton, Mr. Miller, Mr. Riddle, it will be a very hot favorite in the running- Nothing but success will meet you at the finish. Mr. Ed- Lee continues to be a topnotcher at the Omaha Athletic Club, with the two refined captains Mr. Buford and Mr- Sones and Mr. Scott and Mr. Joe Newt. Mr. i Phillips, and Mr. Ed Craig, the overseas ex-serviceman up from Atchinson. Kansas, Rapid Fire Brooks, and high class Mr. Shear ron can give service as fast as a machine gun can shoot. Mr, Her bert Lewis up from the Bluegrass j state and Mr. Fisher, better known as Jesse James always has his horse hitched outside and can mount the saddle of modern serv ice with a gun in each hand- And Mr. Bill Davis and Mr. McFarland up from the Lone Star state, and Mr Hopkins and Mr. Wheatley and Mr. Joe Brown from the Sunflow er State are always ready io go. So take it away, Mr- Hiram Green field. Mr. John Evans of the Rome Ho tel looks quite neat in his summer suit with short sleeves and a Carlino Perfecto Cigar in his mouth, and 'with Mr- Roy Glenn assisting him, can serve the safe ty council and the Junior Chamber of Commerce Club in double quick time. Now boys, can you improve on that if so make it known to us. Mr. Jones of the Omaha Club is a very quick thinker and all ar ound up to date service man with the very good waiters like Mr. Solomon, Mr. Brown and Mr. Dave Stevens, and the rapid fire crew' giving him supreme support. We would like very much to see Mr Gorbert, the rapid fire head waiter of the Paxton Hotel. We shall remind him that when he is doing 60 miles an hour with his Buick. and some one is jaywalking It is a policeman’s duty to remind one about it, and not an auto rac er to yell “look out.” So please wake up and take notice. Mr. Carles Andrews is quite a stranger up this way. and Mr. Leonard Owens and Mr. Theodore Thomas continue to transfer at 24th and Lake Sts-, and we con tacted Mr. Isaiah Jones at a busi ness house that doesn’t sell dry goods, and we joined him in some goods that is served in thin glass es. So, try and guess what it was. Mr- Richardson of the Field club and Mr. Flemings of the Country Club and Mr. Simon Hai'rold of the Happy Hollow Club are all in the home stretch of the season, and are they making good? AND HOW-all the news we get a- | bout them is good news- Press on 1 boys, a very good reward is at the end. Mr. Gabby Watson of the High land Club can make very quick changes in uniforms., one minute he has golf clothes and next he has his manager’s uniform on. Al right, Mr. Watson, a good ball player covers all positions on the diamond. Mr. Harry Schein and Mr. R< d ney Williams can pass for for eigners as they look the part. Capt. Woodland Williams con tinues to look like a fashion plate in his clothes alright. Captain, we all know you are up from the West Indies Islands. EXTRA.. Walker’s Preparations [ I __ t * “I use Mme. C. J. Walker’s preparations exclusively be cause I get results from them that I am unable to get from any other preparation,” stated a well known business woman the other day. The secret of the remarkable success of Mme. C. J. Walker’s preparations is in the fact that they were blended by the late , Madam C. J. Walker to reach certain definite conditions of the I hair, skin and scalp, and today, after over thirty-five years on the market, they are growing increasingly popular, and not withstanding the fact that the Company has always refused to reduce the price on these goods, they are still in demand every where. t Mme. C. J. Walker’s Glossine. although more than thirty-five years on the market, is still the leader in its field. The reason for this is because it not only serves as a scalp oil. but it gives the hair that silky sheen and natural gloss that is the delight of every woman. Mme. C. J. Walker’s Brown Face Powder is,not just another Face Powder, but is the result of years of experimenting to pro duce the perfect blend to impart a velvetlike softness and at the same time cooling and refresh ing. Just the thing for these hot days. The Mme. C. J. Walker’s won derful preparations are sold by Walker Beauticians and Drug Stores everywhere, or you can write The Mme. C. J. Walker Mfg.
