The Gay Northeasterners, an exclusive social club composed of laughters of prominent negro families in Boston, New York, Phila delphia, Washington and Baltimore, has presented a movable library to the Tuskegee Infantile Paralysis Hospital at Tuskegee Institute. Alabama. The library can be wheeled to the bedside of patients and the books are being selected by Director Morteza D. Sprague of the Tuskegee Institute library. The new hospital, where negro victims of the crippling disease are receiving every possible medical atten tion under the direction of the noted surgeon, Dr. John W. Chenault, was constructed and equipped at Tuskegee through funds granted by the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. GRAD OF ’29 ATTENDS GRAD UATING EXERCISES AT K. C. They are North Bend South Bend, Rawhide, was closed recently to the colored people. Lina Richards Sand Pits at the Meadows, also closed. Colored people have been fishing there for years. Cows Lake in Venice, Na than Lake and Tods Lake. These are the places we may fish at Louisville ,Fremont, and Carter Lake and Quinbaugh. The Six Happy Mates had a wonderful time at the Annual Pic nic which was held in the yard of Mr. and Mrs. Henkey. Mr. and Mrs. Moore wish to thank their friends and neighbors, for their kindness, during the death of their daughter. The 8B’s of Howard Kennedy school graduated Wednesday June 4, 1941. The program turned out to be a success. There were 47 who left dear old Howard-Kenn edy school. Mrs. Irene Oliver has taken up her resident in Kanass City with her children. VISITORS IN THE CITY Mrs. C. C. Harper, the wife of Rev. C. C. Harper, visited the city Thursday. While in the city she was estertained with a luncheon at the home of Mrs. Cain, 28th at Parker streets by friends. Mrs. C. C. Harper resided at Mrs. Cain's while in the city. VISITOR FROM KY. Mrs. Henry Frye from Nichol asville, Kentucky, is visiting her sister Mrs. William Johnson at 2537 Parker St. HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL Mr. Jessie McDonald who has been ill at the hospital for four weeks is now at the home of his sister Mrs. Johnson at 33rd Bed ford. His condition is reported as being good. RETURN AFTER WINTERING IN CALIFORNIA Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Black, have returned from wintering in the State of California. Mr. and Mrs. Black left 1 ast November 4th and arrived in Los Angeles the afternoon of the 8th of November. They were delayed in Salt Lake City, Utah, due to car trouble.,They possibly would have made the trip in shorter time but they also stopped every night and drove only in the day time. After arriving in L. A. they spenlt three weeks with friends and then drove on up to San Fran cisco and Oakland, there they spent three weeks. Mr. Bfack found his sister ill and they were with her until she recovered. In travelling from Los Angeles to San Froncisco, they took the ridge route so as to see the beautiful scenery from the mountains. On returning they travelled the ocean route While in Oakland, Mr. and Mrs. Black saw many former Omahans Jesie Newmon, Benny Crig and mony others. Upon their return to Los Angel es, they went into their own home. Mr. Black says that it rained for nearly five months. The most rain in 60 years. TOWNSEND CLUB NO. 11 Our Townsend Club No. 11 met at the Urban League center, 2213 Lake St., on Monday night May the 19th. And held its regular meeting as usual. A large num ber was present. Our persident Mr. L. W. McDonald was unani mously elected to go to Buffalo, New York to attend the Sixth Townsend National Clonyention, w'hich begins June the 30th thru July the 4th. We had with us on Monday, Mr- S. C. Hasger, presi dent of the Board of Directors of the Urban League Community Center who outlined to us how valuable it is to the welfare of this neighborhood to retain this Community Service.
