There can be no doubt in the mind?
of the i>iomulgators of the Amer
ican Youth congress as to where
Mrs Eleanor Roosevelt now stands
with reference to their aims and
ideal e.

in Washington, Mrs. Roosevelt
took them literally ‘under her
wing'’, provided shelter for those
who couldn’t obtain shelter, spon
sored their cause so they could (ob
tain a governmental ball foe a
meeting, and even went so far as
to address their gathering ,a’id
laud their ideals and ambitions —
with reservations, of course.
However, the present situation
Is a horse of another color and the
First Lady is staying just as far
away from the youth congress as
she possibly can, and with no little
emphasis in her press conference
declared she did n°t accept the in
vitation to speak at the sessions
which will be held up in ‘‘little
Harlem’’ at Turner’s Fight arena.
Her decision, and that of gov
ernment officials, to divorce them
selves from the activities of the
youth group, Mrs. Roosevelt ex

ly in making her viewpoint clear
to the young people.
