HUMMEL Colored people had a picnic 6 years ago. Frank Frost’s wife told the colored people the stoves were Saken by sime white people. The colored women wanted to fight her so she called for the park Caretaker Charles Lindsay. Lind say came up and tried to straigh ten the matter out. Lindsay then gave the colored people two stoves. Then she told Mrs. Janoff the cok red people should go to Riverview Park. Mr. Hummel cleaned up the ball diamond and playground at 20th and Burdette Which was like a dump before. There will also be Rest Rooms installed if Mr. Hum mel is re-elected. The colored peo ple have never been denied a per mit for the use of pavilions, parks or any other facilities in the Park Department under Mr. Hummel’s term in office. PARK DEPARTMENT The Colored people gave us their support in the election three years ago, now under the management of commissioner J. B. Hummel, we have two baseball diamonds. One is located at 21st and Bur dette with a grand stand, and ono is located at 22nd and Seward St. We have staked out two ten nis courts fc> be built sl^n at 22nd and Seward streets and will erect a comfort station and drinking fountain at 21st and Burdette ball diamond.
