Subject “The Over Confidence of Peter.” He revealed to us many valuable thoughts and the spirit was as the peace. . Sister Crumbly favored us with' a solo “Its My Desire.” 6 o’clock Young Peoples Union opened with the president Sister Woody presiding. The lesson was taught by Sister Edna Mitchell from the 1st chapter of James, and the 1st to the 8th verses There wore many present to discuss the lesson. 8 o’clock service was opened by the choir singing. "The Lord is in His Holy Tem|pie.’” Our pastor again brought the message from 12th chapter of Exodus, and the 12th and 13th verses. His subject was “The Zero Hour.”’ We had a wonderful time. His text was ‘(He is Coming”, and the subject “He is Hera”, and truely as this God man spoke through the Spirit of . the Ivord, every one there was a wit ness that “He "b Here.” His sermon was ike a spring rain as everyone was so refreshed from it. Steele, Reporter. _oOo CITY UNION OF THE USHERS AND USHERETTES Well, first of all, the president wishes to thank the Ushers an Us herettes of the different churches, foi their splendid showing they made last Thursday night, Febru ary 23th at Salem Baptist Church during the “big baptizing”, toge ther with Salemites and Ushers. They handled the crowd nicely, es pecially during collection period. The pastor spoke of the coopera ative spirit that was shown among the ushers that was brought about through being Unionized. Sunday, Feb. 26th was our re gular meeting day at the Urban League. We had quite a few pre rent and some visitors from dif ferent locals. PROMISES NEW AME CHURCH FOP AFRICANS Johnnesburg, South Africa, March 2, (ANP)—Seeking to des cribe American institutions to the tremendous aud.ence which she faced when speaking here last week, Mrs Lucy H. Hughes, pre sident of the Woman’s Home and Missionary society of the AME church, who has been in South Africa on an inspection tour of her organization’s work, told of the history of the AME’s and pledged the support of her group to the establishment of a new and much needed church here. Mrs. Hughes spoke of the di ffculty met in establishing the first AME church in South Africa, and gave something to the church’s history. “It, Ls the church,’’ the .speaker said, “which makes me real.’’ She also expressed the wish that she could take the native Af ricans to America to see their Churches, the*ir universities,. and their 18 Negro colleges which pro duce highly educated men and wo men. The well known missionary said i further that America loved Africa hence their sending highly educa ted bishops to this country. In con clusion, the speaker said the AME church was for the Negro. After tho speech, Mrs. Hughes left for Capetown, where she was to em bark for America where she hoped to arrive in time to attend the bi shop’s council in Dallas this month.
