“CARE OF FEET”
TOO many women are inclined
to forget that they have feet un
til something happens to call their
attention to them. A beautifully
formed foot is as charming to the
eye as a beautifully shaped hand.
However, to look on the pleasant
side, good feet are tho heritage of
almost all of us and a great many
foot ailments are directly traceable
to improperly fitted shoes. Feet
were made for walking and stand
ing, a pair of normal, healthy feet
encased in properly fitted, properly
shaped shoes, will carry you
through tho longest day with
energy left over, foot authorities
tell us. So it’s just as out of date
to suffer with foot troubles as to
bo badly groomed.
How shall we know which shoes
aro the correct ones? First, that
every woman’s shoes should be
broad enough to let her rest flat
ly and naturally on the sole. Se
cond, that a low heel throws the
weight of the body on the Instep.
High heels throw too much weight
on tho fore part of the foot, wcak
ing the areh.
Always cut your toenails straight
across, using a nail clip, or nail
clip, or nail scissors. Ingrown nails
always result from cutting away
the CORNERS of the nail which
supports it forward part. If you
smooth tho nails edge8 with
emery boards, you will not YoSe
your temper easily when you put
on your stockinsg. Give your feet
a pedicure like you give your hands
a manicure and you won’t lose your
temper. What does a pedicure have
to do with your temper. Just this,
how many times have you pulled
cp. a pair of hose and the proscess
started a run because of a rough
nail. Didn’t you feel “mad” through
and through? Let your operator
give you a pedicure.
Back to shoes—Did you ever
stop to think of the amount of
time you spend on your feet dur
ing each working day? Have you
ever stopped to realise that ,it
might be a nexcellertt plhn to
buy yours like roalroad tickets
from the standpoint of mileage?
In that case, without farther ques
tion, your working shoes would be
your “best shoes.”
The idea that comfortable, scien
tifically constructed shoes that pro
mote foot health cannot be smart
and attractive is a fallacy, and
one pair of shoes that give you
fit, appearance, and day-long wal
ing ease is worth a dozen pairs
bought carelessly and left on the
closet shelf because they hurt
As for your party shoes, authori
ties tell us, you may be as frivo
lous in your choice as you like, so
long as you keep them for even
ing wear only. When they are
worn, give them away or throw
them away. But DONT wear your
cast-off, high-heeled slippers dur
ingworking hours. Always bear in
mind that one of your greatest
assets in your business is a pair
of good feet which work with
you so ctomfortably and so ef
ficiently that you are never aware
of them. Tired feet makes tired
faces.
