Being very evenly weighed at 197 pounds; Roscoe proceeded to give the Gunner a neat boxing lesson. Taking 7 out of 10 rounds j while the Gunner received credit j for 2 the other even. Toles lost no time going to work on his op position for he drew blood from the Gunner’s face before the round ended. It was a tough strug gle all the way, and was not the victory of the walkaway variety. Roscoe found in the Gunner a tough man to down. It was a mystery he did not hit the deck at Holes jolt ed him with several stiff right rooks to the face that continued o draw the crimson. Toles took the first 4 rounds and the Gunner came Back in the 5th landing a few jolt ing hooks that reached their mark effectively. The 6th was about even and the 7th Roscoe put the Gunner on the ropes in a distressed condition from a volley of rights to the jaw. The tough old eagle bird weathered the storm showing remarkable ceurage. The crowd begin to sing the Bronx cheers in the direction of Roscoe. Again Toles turned on the steam to take the round By a wide margin. The ninth found the Gunner making one of Custers last stands. He scored repeatedly with a few hooks to the midrift of Toles. Rescue came back missing a few of the punches he threw. Both men showed slight traces of tir ing with the Gunner still bleeding about the face. Toles shook him good in the final round which found both men trying desperately at the bell. Barlund took a lot of punishment and won the laurels of the crowd by sheer gameness and courage. A preliminary bout that brought together Eddie Flipper of San Francisco Cal. and Lou Raymond brought a deservedly popular vic tory for the brown boy from the west. It is best to darken light eyebrows otherwise the top line of the glasses will be em phasized unduly. Eyes with no make-up are likely to appear pale and characterless moreover, when no make-UD is used undue emphasis is placed on the gla'-es.
