DONE AT RANDOM (by Ralph L. Leater for ANP) The Anvil Chorus Philadelphia Oct. 21— Theatri ca Note: “Run Little Chillun,” featuring Clarence Muse, is in its twelfth week and is playing to a packed house, in Hollywood, every night—A new call to worship: CH CH means nothing unless UR in it.—Aside to Heywood Broun: R. H. Jones, a local newsman, disa grees with you consistently, yet seldom fails to read your turnout. —Curiosity Certainly would like to meet Jack Benny’s "Rochester.”— One thing about Henry Armstrong reported intention to retire—He’ll have to retire in sections. Ella Fitzgerald: Your “A Tisket a tasket” failed to make a top flight record. It was No. 1 for five week but has droped low and fat.—Sidewalk talk: People are que-'r: A man will buy a stranger a drink of liquor, yet refuse a i ‘ down and outer” a nickel for a { cup of coffee. Expc/isiive Gum The mid-city shopping district | was crowded with the usual Mon j day afternoon turnout. Near the corner was a uniformed lassie dis persing sample chewing gum to the multitude. A middle aged gent re ceived his stick of gum and after taking a few steps, returned for mother free sample. He got is, but but his greed cost him $23. Going back after the second piece he ni jostled and his pocket picked. Hope careful observation points to the fact that Hollywood is dis carding an old system. No more do names of stars make the pic tures. Several recent hits had no glamorous names and it appears 1 that the play itself will be more 'important in the future. If this in a correct diagnosis we shall ex ptet to see more scpia talent grac ing the silver screen. Despair For several ye?rs we have searched in vain, for a man, or woman, who had met someone who knew a person who had been in terviewed by a representative of tho American Institute of Public Opinion. i T»—. The Elusive Cherry It has long been our desire to aid the vast number of unfortuna tes who rarely are successful in getting the elusive cherry at the bottom of those tall glasses of mix ed drinks. With this thought in mind wo havo evolved & series of methods that should prove help ful. DIRECT APPROACH: Call for a spoon (if charged extra for this service, you may purloin spoon with freedom of conscience.) With spoon push aside green trimmings or assorted top trimmings. Sli ver , of Ice may attemy to impede your progress, but with the spriti of an artic explorer, push on in your case down. Contact with cherry should made in front. Noth ing will antagonize a cherry sal quickly 83 a rear attack. After making contact press cherry a gainst glass and firmly raise to a spearing level. With toothpick at tack vigorously and after the con quest poise op the toothpick for the admiration of girl friend. She will in all probabalify. snatch the cap tured cherry thus leaving you the victor without spoils. SUBTILE METHOD: Sip slowly the contents of glass, ignoring the decorations, until all liqiud is gone. Quietly remove cracked ice and trimmings. With glass attacked to lips, place head in star gazing po sition. Tap glass firmly, on bot tom. Cherry will depart from glass via your nose, and fall on floor, rolling under table. From there even an inebriate can get it. SURE FIRE: In the event the - afore mentioned should fail, then usq this sure fire method. Take glass firmly in hand. Raise to a height of three feet and dash on table: Floating through the parti cles of broken glass, cracked ice and what-not, in a rivelet of liquid refreshments, will be the elusive cherry. Charlie: Certainly, I want to be as ideal a companion for you as possible. ____% ^Scratching //REUEVE ITCHING SKIN Quickly Even the most stubborn Itching of eczema; blotches, pimples, athlete's foot, radios and other externally caused skin eruption, quickly yields to pure, cooling, antiseptic, liquid D.D.O.
