Revivals Vs. Sensationalism
Religious groups arc deploring

lifSpring, fall and summer arc
the usual .seasons when the
churches launch def'ni’e campaigns
for the saving of smils.
During th's generation there is
r. false idea ; bout the purpose of
revivals. This erroneous opinion is
eate 1 mostly by us, ministers
an 1 officials. The general rule is
to get some s ti >nal preachei
who i. literally eloquent and get
rcople stirred up emotionally. The
f il e ‘‘evangelist” takes a few
“shots" at sin e. g., card part e;,
■’link adultery etc., then scare a
W sinners about to “join the

11 th-dr sensation dies ar.>i the
and the supposed Christians and
their new converts go back to the: •
“sinning more or less every day.”
Many tf our thoughtful critics
'■•ill such revivals, ‘ Religious
Rummage Rales,” where salvation
figuratively priced at SI 0(1 is sol 1
for vq cerats. Such is not a real re
vival.
It. is our duties as pastors and
resident Christians to “reckon
ourselves dead indeed unto sin ”
'Rom. 6:11) and fi'-ht it in every
form every day of our lives.
Our periods of revival should lie
a special time wherein we an
