P.)—The National Conference on Federal Aid to Education last week heard Mordeoai Johnson, president of Howard university, John P. Davis, secretary of the National Negro Congress, and Dr. Frank P. Graham, p esident of the University of North Carolina, unite in ruging that the Federal government furnish grants to aid education in the States and reduce the inequalities prevailing agaimt Negro schools. The Conference was sponsored jontly by the Pro gressive Educatin aval the Ameri can Federation of Teachers. Alyl three spoke in support ot the Harrison-Fle'cl er and Thonv's bill for federal aid to education. The bill appropriates amounts starting at $72,000,090 1909-40 and increasing to $292 000,000 in 1044 t0 45. the money to be distt" ' nted among the states with th“ om-o-T sources.
