Moody Sou’hern Methodism During this two hundredth an niversary of the Conversion of John Wesley, we receive a glimpse ] of the movement and principles of our present day representatives of this saintlv man of Cod. On one hard we have a worthy attempt among thee leaders and followers of tho major faction of Methodism, the Christians are endeavoring to present, a visible unity among the Methodists. But on the other hand, f we have a few bigots who— for no other reason than lack of love for their black brethren—hinder the entire program of union in order to save “our southern church.” Any church that cannot slant the unitv or union that is produc ed hy Christian fellowship is no church at, all. nor the church of God. It is evident thnt. these bi s shops, ministers and Itwyers need *•0 go to the Addersgate and g'*t i the same lexperier.re that John Weslev received two hundred years ago, because their actions reveal that they do not hove it. We hona that this action taken by tho three branches of Method ism will produce a spiritual unity and love as well ns physical, social and economic union. * * * * While mentioreng Methodism, I feel that I express tho sentiments of all Omaha, at least all who were acquainted with Rev. and Mrs. W. C. Conwell, when I say we regret having to lose such a fatherly and able minister. We hope and pray that G!od will tdess thiem with greater success and deeper ex periences in Christ as thev min isber to the people at St. Jo-eph, Missouri. 119, Remembers John Brown, Others Mrs. Flora Tatum William, of Mississippi, was bo"n six years after the War of 1812, and was a grownwoman when John Brown tormed Harper’s Ferry and was at middle age when Lincoln fre^d the slaves.
